Groggy Chihuahua for the Weekend List

January 31, 2016 by christine

Hello and happy Sunday! It’s been a busy weekend already, I went to and volunteered at SacTown VegFest for a few hours yesterday and will be posting a lot more on that when I finish going through all the pictures! I also have another vegan social meetup today that I’m looking forward to! It has not been a good weekend for poor Leela, she spent all day at the vet Friday getting her teeth cleaned and I just hate putting her through that. Poor girl was still very dopey Friday evening trying to sit at the dinner table with us,

IMG_0423

I had to carefully make sure she didn’t fall off the chair.

IMG_0421

Her teeth look a lot better and it’s important since she’s prone to dental problems and infections which can lead to cancer and other health problems if they go untreated. She has to have her teeth cleaned about every year.

Miko and Smokey tried to peacefully share the couch blanket, but I don’t think Smokey was too pleased.

I tried a new tea from a friend at work, Yogi Cranberry Spice Probiotic Balance.

IMG_0414

And liked it! If has a nice cranberry spice flavor with nothing off in the flavor or texture area from the probiotics, so good way to add probiotics to your diet.

I also finally got through all the tangerines on our tree snacking on them at work, peeling and freezing bags of them for smoothies, and giving them away to family and co-workers – whew!

IMG_0401

When the tree is in full fruit bloom, I swear it has more tangerines on it than leaves and the poor branches are weighed down to the ground! It’s a blessing, but work to harvest them all!

Also still going through the bag of Santa Cruz Organics Peanut Powder for chocolate peanut smoothies, yum!

I used Follow Your Heart’s VeganEgg to make coconut curry fried rice.

IMG_0395

And the texture seemed a lot like traditional fried rice, kind of fun the way it clumped together and the VeganEgg product picked up the curry flavors. I need to try it in vegan french toast next.

Simple eats included this potato tempeh oil free stir fry.

Salad with hummus dressing.

IMG_0415

Oil free tamari tempeh stir fry with rainbow carrots and cauliflower.

IMG_0417

Spicy coconut curry tofu Thai takeout.

IMG_0424

Hubby made this delicious West African Peanut Soup recipe.

And veggie loaded vegan tacos using LightLife’s Smart Grounds.

So sexy that he’s getting creative in the kitchen with vegan foods!

Aw, poor Leela. I hope she’s feeling better!

I heard not to pay attention to expiration dates but didn’t exactly know why. Thanks for the great article! I may put that in my Links & Life this week (and credit you of course) because not enough people know about this and waste so much food.

That Trader Joe’s link is awesome!

Thankfully Leela seems to be to her normal self today and not happy with the cold wind this morning. :-)

Sure, share away on that link!

Poor Leela. I hate it when my dogs have to have anesthesia. I’m sure she’s feeling fine now though.

I finally tried the Vegan Egg product and it’s amazing! We made a spinach souffle yesterday and loved it.

I understand where the author is coming from in the Plant-Based vs. Vegan article. I also understand that vegans need to stop making non-vegans think that we’re judgmental a-holes. Frustrating to be sure.

Yes, much better for Leela thankfully. But she’s not happy about being back on antibiotics twice a day. :-P

VeganEgg is a lot of fun and easy to work with.

Totally agreed on the plant-based article, it’s a refreshing new term trying to separate the lifestyle from the “angry vegan” stereotype some may have been overexposed to.

Aww your poor pup! I remember when we got my dgo fixed he came home so, so groggy and it was pretty hilarious. It’s funny how much like little furry humans they can be!

Your poor pup too, so hard putting them through that! And true, poor Leela was walking sideways and having such a tough time Friday!
