Sunday already, man. It was a week at work to say the least and I really need to plan a vacation. But we has some pretty cool and rainy weather before it got hot this weekend and Miko was very happy to snuggle inside.
Kept most eats simple with a sweet potato and soy curl sauté, Thai takeout Ron sweetly picked up after a crazy day, and more simple stir fries and salads.
Friday night we tried a new Clo Clo pizza that was good loaded with veggies, but a little too salty.
Our garden is growing rapidly, we’ve got zucchini, yellow squash, broccoli, and a new plant that started growing from a rogue seed – Chenopodium giganteum, or magenta spreen, which can be cooked and used in smoothies like spinach.
Cucumbers, carrots, cabbage and a blooming flower bee bed with surprise potato plants popping up from potatoes we did not dig up apparently.
Today we headed into Sacramento for the Sacramento Vegan Food Festival for a late lunch, early dinner and it was a sprawling event this year blocking off the main street to the capital building.
So many booths with interesting new products and foods to try, but we headed to Crazy Rabbit Kitchen since I have been meaning to try them for years.
It was a total vegan comfort food meal, I got the Crispy Vegan “Chicken” sandwich with creamy dill sauce and Ron the Carne Asada Fries loaded with toppings. Both great and fun eats.
Paired with hard kombucha and ice cream bars from Conscious Creamery and we’re set for the day! We watched a great presentation by Chef AJ on a healthy plant-based lifestyle while we ate vegan ice cream, lol.
And really enjoyed walking around, taking in the nice weather, views of the capital, and fun eats and goodies. Boo on the Sunday blues, trying to focus on it being a great week ahead for everyone. Hopefully the list is a good start.

I love your garden! It looks great. We get bigger every year too. But I only add bit by bit to keep it manageable. This year I added two blueberry bushes and two raspberries bushes. We will see! Raspberries are so hard to grow. Love those zucchini in particular. They look delicious and taste so much better than store bought zucchini!

Thanks! Great strategy, I tend to get aggressive in spring sometimes and over-whelmed by summer. Nice on the berry bushes, I need to look into adding those next. Yes on the zucchini, I never get tired of having those around.

I’m so happy that VegFests are coming back again! So cool that you got to see Chef AJ, too. I’ve been working with her on photos for her cookbooks; she’s so sweet and very talented.
