These two are looking forward to the weekend and hopefully warmer weather.
It’s been in the 20s the last few mornings and evenings which means very frustrated chihuahuas during walk time. I had to dig Miko out of his bed this morning to get out on a walk and he was not a happy camper.
As you know, I’m all about turmeric lately and finding new ways to enjoy it. A co-worker has been really excited about it too since he started taking it in pill format and gushed to me how much it’s helped his back pains. But my feeling is incorporating it into whole foods is probably a better way to absorb it and enjoy it. Plus I can’t imagine missing the flavor possibilities by taking it in pill format. This dressing blends it with tangy raw garlic and tahini and gets a fabulous whipped and creamy texture from avocado and savoriness from miso paste – many healthy wins in a great tasting salad dressing.
Super Turmeric Dressing
- 1 small/medium avocado, seeded and scooped
- 2 tbsp. tahini
- 1 garlic clove
- 3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp. turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp. nutritional yeast
- ½ cup water or veggie broth, as needed
- 1 tbsp. miso paste
- salt and pepper, to taste
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy! Makes 4 servings.
Mmm, check out the warming and rich color – great for a winter salad.
And it’s a very thick dressing that has to be worked in so it could make a great healthy slaw style salad also. I coated a kale salad with chickpeas, carrots, celery, beets, and red cabbage.
The flavor is tangy, rich, and savory with a nice level of warming garlic and turmeric while not being too strong.
Get more super foods in with this simple dressing!

You know I’m a HUGE fan of Turmeric! I try and add it to as many things as possible…even if it’s only the powder and not the root. I figure – any is better than – none!

Very true, I’ve been adding it to sweet smoothies lately too – delicious! Gotta try tea next.

I very grateful for the tumeric recipes too, As I quickly race to 40, my aches and pains need the tumeric for relief so thank you for sharing. There’s not too many recipes out there for dressings that use it.

Agreed, more of it is a good thing. Think I’ll try a banana ice recipe with it next. :-)
