Better Turmeric Dressing

January 24, 2018 by christine

Being blind is tough on Leela, she is not adjusting to it well especially since her hearing seems to be going too. She spends a lot of time wandering the house, bumping into walls, and looking for food.

I feel like I’m wandering through this week on autopilot. One of those weeks where things are so busy I just wanna get through it. A week where I could use more superfoods and turmeric is such a hot superfood now. So hot I keep a big bag of turmeric powder to add spoonfuls to smoothies.

Or use in tasty superfood salad dressings. There are a lot of turmeric dressing recipes out there, but many of them suck calling for lots of added oil or syrup. This version uses whole avocado fat and gets a hint of sweetness from dates.

Better Turmeric Dressing

  • 1 avocado, seeded and scooped
  • 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1” chunk fresh ginger
  • 3 tsp. ground turmeric
  • 2 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 tsp. miso paste
  • 2 tbsp. nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 small clove of garlic
  • ¼ cup water, as needed

Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy! Makes 4 servings.

It is a thick dressing, very rich and creamy with a warming color.

And coated a large cabbage, sauerkraut, carrot, and kidney bean meal salad perfectly.

The bright and warm colors of this salad are perfect for winter, right?

And the dressing is great, warming, kicky with a tangy sweetness to brighten up any salad.

Numeric (uhhhhh, I hate autocorrect) is big around here. My mom finally convinced me to take it for pain….because at pushing 40 I do have issues! Thanks for a great recipe!

Haha, that happens on my phone all the time. Nice and I hope it helps, that bag is a great thing to have in your pantry and add to smoothies.

Poor Leela. :( She’s lucky she’s in such a loving and safe home.

Where did you get that bag of Turmeric? I put it in my smoothie every morning and would love a big bag like that.

Aw, thanks. I got it from Grocery Outlet actually, but it’s also on Amazon. It makes it so easy to add spoonfuls into everything. :-)
