Visiting Animals for the List

March 24, 2024 by christine

Sunday evening already, I’m not sure I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow, I need more weekend! It’s been a good week of eats, lots of rice dishes and a creamy potato curry dish.

I did revert back to childhood one night with Jack & Annie’s Crispy Plant-based Jack Nuggets.

They were delicious with a hearty texture and crunchy exterior, perfect air fryer treat.

Yesterday we went to Animal Place for their annual MeatOut event which has grown a lot since the last time we went years ago and sold out despite it being rainy and cold. It’s a fundraising event for the animal sanctuary that celebrates vegan food and lets visitors see the animals, feed them, and learn about factory farming. There was so much food, we stuffed ourselves on vegan cheese, vegan meat, vegan sauce, and dessert samples.

Thank goodness the outdoor eating area was covered because it down-poured rain with temps in the 40s while we ate. When the rain finally let up a bit, we ventured out to visit the animals.

The sanctuary is gorgeous with sprawling green grass, trees, and hills. Yes, that’s a goat eating what’s left of a Christmas tree. We spent a lot of time with the goats, then to visit the bunnies.

And got to feed pigs melon, there were buckets of melons visitors could toss in for these guys to enjoy.

And I could have watched them all day they were so cute. We also came home with a lot of swag from protein powder, vegan dog food, vegan jerky, etc. Such a treat!

After the long drive in the rain and spending a lot of time braving the elements to visit, I was not in the mood to cook, so we had Thai takeout for dinner. And after a busy day today of getting ready for the week, I went with simple vegan fettuccini dish for dinner. Hopefully you have a great week ahead starting with the list.

What an incredible event! Between the animals and the food, it really looks like the perfect day out. I wish I could have bee there!
