Getting Colorful for the List

March 5, 2023 by christine

March is here, already. Whoa. And still very much winter with wild weather. There was a break in the rain to get outside for a bit today.

Then we got caught in a wild hail storm while shopping. Not complaining, all the rain and snow we can get is a great thing. Trying to keep things interesting this week with more salads, rice and veggie stir fries, and, of course, more turmeric noodle soup.

It has been an exciting week of new eats too such as discovering Treeline Vegan French-Style Cheese is delicious with crackers. And Wholly Veggie Southwest Chili makes a tasty and hearty work lunch.

And I went to three local all-vegan restaurants this week, what a time! First back to Zest Kitchen for the Autumn Harvest Bowl for lunch. Then to Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine for lunch with Ron.

And Ron and I ventured to Green Grill, a newish vegan restaurant in the area I have been meaning to get to for awhile. I started with colorful and kicky Zesty Manchurian Bowl loaded with fresh veggies with kicky noodles, veggie meatballs, topped with a kicky sweet sauce and sesame ginger dressing for a fun blend of flavors and textures.

Ron got the seasoned fries with the Crispy Chick’N Sandwich, a delicious fried oyster mushroom patty with a uniquely delicious house sauce.

Ron also tried a new find – Purple Carrot’s Plant-Based Spinach Artichoke Cavatappi pasta frozen meal.

It was hearty, loaded with a surprising amount of veggies, and great creamy pasta sauce.

Other eats was an interesting soy curl stir fry with a blended ginger, tamari, and carrot sauce. And more curry tempeh, veggies, and noodle soup.

Boo on the weekend being over already, I am looking forward to sun and warmer weather to get out for more weekend adventures. Soon. Maybe. Until then, let’s start the week with a happy list.

  • Vegan diet better for the environment.
  • Vegan popcorn “chicken” recipes.
  • Vegan film Coffee Wars coming this month, can’t wait.
  • New vegan deli meats from Renegade Foods.
  • Best vegan hiking boots.
  • Vegan air fryer tofu recipes.
  • Best vegan sandwiches to make and order.
  • Best vegan vitamins and supplements.
  • Vegan vanilla cake recipes.

Oh wow, I didn’t know that Wholly Veggie did meals! I’ve only seen their snacks and appetizers. It really is the golden age of vegan products… And SO many more on the way. I’ve been watching the roundups from Expo West with envy.

Very true, new products from Wholly Veggie seem to be popping up frequently at Sprouts Farmers Market. Me too on Expo West, wish I could have been there!
