Last day of September which means cooler fall weather is closer and the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge starts tomorrow! I can’t wait to start trying new vegan dishes, such an inspiring month of great eats. The pups aren’t impressed and Leela was not sure about Miko sharing a bed with her.
Luckily she doesn’t fight back like she used to mellowing with age.
Lots of easier weeknight eats here with meal salads, oil free stir fries, and marinara spaghetti squash
And soybean spaghetti in miso soup with veggies and kabocha squash curry saute with kale and Field Roast vegan sausage.
I also ended up back at Blaze Pizza for lunch with co-workers last week. No one could decide where to go, so I suggested Blaze to make everyone happy and got a simple veggie loaded pizza with pineapple, spinach, olives, and corn – a tasty combo. I also did creamy apple cinnamon oatmeal in a wok that turned out delicious.
It’s been a week of lots of coffee and also a great lunch at Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine.
Friday we stepped out to Broderick for dinner because they not only have impressive vegan options, they are willing to vegan-ize any burger or menu item they can swapping with vegan burger patties, vegan cheese, etc. We started with the vegan bacon mac n” cheese which was a little runny, but very tasty with a peppery kick that worked well.
Hubby got the Impossible Burger with fries and I got the house made veggie burger with a salad. Of course the Impossible Burger was good, but I really liked the veggie burger too with a crispy texture and smokey flavor.
I also found myself in Sacramento this weekend for the first of many meetings planning SacTown Vegfest in January which is a perfect excuse for lunch at Veg Sacramento to try their Impossible Burger. But I got the falafel burger which was also great with crispy sweet potato chips.
And I never get tired of walking around the city of trees especially when they start turning for fall.
The meeting went well, I got a lot of homework assignments to update the site, get more social media activity this year, etc. which will be fun. So will this week’s list!

I really need to try a vegan burger! Buffalo finally opened up its first vegan restaurant so as soon as I can find a reasonably priced sitter, I’m going!!! And the vegan mac n cheese looks to die for!!!

Oh hey, if you’re on the comity for the SacTown VegFest, any chance you could put in a good word for me as a possible presenter? I’d love to come demonstrate a recipe or two!
christine says
Absolutely! I will get your information to them ASAP and I’m so excited!

I really want to try the Impossibly Burger… It’s not available in grocery stores here in Canada yet and I yet have to make my way to A&W to try it there!
Your pups are adorable by the way! I too have 2 pups and Autumn is my favorite time of year to walk them around. :)

It’s not at stores here yet either, only in restaurants. Can’t want until it is! Thanks on the pups, me too for Autumn.
