Wow, another weekend almost over, what the?! I guess I’m ready for the week. I’ve been bored with my outdoor running routes lately and decided to drive to a trail a couple of miles away. But when I got there, I discovered I forgot my water bottle which is not like me and, of course, all three water fountains in the park were not working. Seriously! So I had to drive back, filled multiple water bottles, and headed back to finally get in a run. D’oh! But it was worth it for a change in scenery and enjoy the changing leaves and cooler weather. I would love to get more into trail running and traveling to more trails in the area, but am not comfortable trail running alone and need to either get over that or find a running group.
Miko has been a sweetheart this weekend following us around the house for cuddles.
We recently started a new batch of kale in the AeroGarden. Shortly after I used a head of romaine lettuce and decided to try growing the base in a little water next to the AeroGarden for the light and it’s growing faster than the kale in the AeroGarden! I practically have another head of romaine lettuce already and need to keep doing that in the future.
It’s been a week of lots of coffee, fall brings lack of motivation to get out of bed when mornings are darker and chillier. Things are getting a little tougher with Leela, she seems to be getting more disoriented with being blind and mostly deaf at this point. She’s been wandering around the house more crashing into walls, making more messes, and needing to be carried more on walks. She still seems happy, attentive to attention, and loves to eat and we’re happy to take care of her. It’s tough to see her deal with the challenges of aging and feel helpless. Miko still acts like a puppy and loves his morning walks.
The sunsets last week were gorgeous with clouds, so colorful and cool. And I’m getting into the fall mood with creamy butternut soup for simple lunches.
Also tried a new protein powder flavor I’m in love with – Orgain Organic Plant Based Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein powder. It’s delicious in smoothies blended with frozen bananas and disguises carrots, kale, and broccoli blended into smoothies nicely.
Keeping things simple and fall-like with more creamy vegan soups like creamy curried lentil here. Also huge meal salads and a really fun veggie saute with Tofurky sausage, marinara sauce, and Daiya Mozzarella Shreds melted in.
We also stepped out to a favorite local Thai place Friday where they did not disappoint hubby making his vegan tofu drunken noodles insanely spicy and my pumpkin tofu curry only mildly spicy.
And now we’re preparing for another work week ahead. But first an encouraging, but short, list.
Awesome move, White Castle. Now if we can just get In-N-Out Burger on board.

Big fan of Orgain over here, too! Have you tried their new “Simple” protein bars yet? I love them! I have more to share about that soon…

Yes, so glad to have you back! And agreed on fall running after the summer air quality here!

I don’t like to run the trails around our house alone, either. It’s so sad, but we need to be realistic, so I run through neighborhoods with pepper spray velcroed around my wrist. Sigh.
Great food this week!

It is and true, my sister recently gave me these claw rings to wear for self protection and I’m afraid I’d stab myself with them! I just joined a trail running meetup group and hoping the meets will work with my work schedule.
