Hello and happy Friday eve! I’m ready and ready for the smoke to go away! Things are still pretty smokey here, the morning and evening dog walks are gloomy.
Not pretty and so terrible for those really affected by these fires. We’ve been trying to stay inside more and enjoy colorful meal salads, chilled watermelon, and comforting stir fries and curry chickpea dishes.
Yesterday we celebrated our wedding anniversary by going to lunch at Whole Foods and I have not been to their salad bar in ages and made a beast of a salad. Hubby also sent roses to me at work.
Then we headed to midtown Sacramento for dinner at Revolution Wines because they have many excellent vegan options on the menu including the Impossible Burger with Miyoko’s mozzarella!
We started with the buffalo cauliflower with perfect crispy, fried texture paired with a lighter, kicky sauce. I got the cauliflower steak because that just looked like a perfect light and summery dish and it was with grilled corn and a nicely kicky green sauce.
Hubby got the Impossible Burger which was also great with nicely crispy fries. Then we split the vegan coconut chocolate mousse for a light portioned sweet treat that was not too heavy.
I love that so many more restaurants in this area are offering solid vegan options and that seems to increase every year. I also found out we have two more vegan restaurants opening in this area this fall – how great is that? The plant based movement is booming and we need it now!

Happy anniversary! Yes, it seems easier to eat out all the time. Did you know White Castle is test marketing the Impossible Burger as sliders in their northeastern restaurants? They also switched to vegan buns.

Thanks! Yes on White Castle and that’s awesome! If only In-and-Out would consider that too!
