We have a house guest for the next few days, we’re dog sitting my mom’s, uh, hefty dog. And he’s camera shy hiding behind the couch when he sees it in my hand. So this is the best shot I could get just before he hid.
What breed would you say he is? The shelter he was adopted from says chihuahua min-pin mix, but there is nothing mini about him! Miko has been on overdrive protecting his toys and dinner.
If you find this Chile Lime seasoning blend at Trader Joe’s, you’ll want to protect it for yourself!
Some how these feisty little granules have a strong and bright lime flavor with perfect amount of heat. When I first tasted it, I couldn’t wait to try it in an avocado dressing and this simple recipe will not disappoint.
Spicy Lime Avocado Dressing
- 1 avocado, seeded and scooped
- 1 tsp. Trader Joe’s or other chile lime seasoning blend
- 1 tsp. dried cilantro (or fresh of course)
- 1 clove of garlic
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- ½ cup water, as needed
- salt and pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy. Makes 2-4 servings.
I threw everything into this meal salad, it was a veggie-packed delight to start the week with home grown sprouts, broccoli slaw, organic greens, beans, tomato, purple carrot ribbons, and cabbage.
Love a plate full of vibrant colors. And the kicky avocado dressing added a rich and creamy flare, tangy and savory with a slight amount of heat that wasn’t overpowering.
Chopped melon for dessert made this a bright celebration of the last days of summer.
Get to Trader Joe’s to stock up on Chile Lime seasoning and try this dressing!

I have to get a bottle of that Trader Joe’s Chile Lime!! Another great dressing to spice up my boring life. Haha. I dog sit for my mom too, her Jack Russell. And her dog and my one dog DO not like each other. It’s like, I have to set up special spots for each of them at my house so they don’t fight. Insanity.

Haha, all three dogs have been following me around the house fighting for attention and keeping the peace at dinner time is a real challenge! :-)

Too funny that you mention the Chili Lime seasoning. I was at Trader Joe’s this weekend and the clerk went on and on about how great is on everything! Watermelon, pineapple, mango… everything!

That’s totally my kind of seasoning and dressing. Sounds delicious!
LOL! That does not look like a min-pin. Coco is a min-pin/chihuahua mix, and they don’t resemble each other at all. Too funny about the fighting, the same thing happens when Alex’s dog stays with us. Gizmo doesn’t like her at all and gets jealous because Coco and Hooper are buddies.

Thanks. And that’s what I was thinking, plus the poor dog is very overweight which I’ve been trying to get my mom to feed him a better diet!
We’ve been having to keep them separated when not home to not risk any problems.
