Hello August, that means cooling fall temps and turning leaves are getting closer! And fireplace cuddly time which Miko is all about.
But since temps are still hot, I’m still celebrating summer with vibrant salads and fun blender salad dressings. Trust me, you’ll want to make this one. It’s tangy, creamy, slightly sweet, and has a playful sriracha kick. Blending banana with tahini gave it a deceivingly decadent texture – you’d never guess it wasn’t loaded with oil and cream. It also packs raw garlic, ginger, and apple cider vinegar which might make it the perfect dressing.
Spicy Tahini Recipe
- Banana, peeled and chopped
- 2 tbsp. raw tahini
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp. miso paste
- 1-2 cloves raw garlic
- ½” chunk of raw ginger
- 2 tsp. sriracha
- ½ cup water, as needed
- pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy! Makes 2-4 servings.
I used a very thick raw tahini that added to the creamy texture.
It coated a vibrant salad with black beans, green onions, and chopped apple for a fun blend.
The dressing is bright, creamy, sweet, and has a lively tartness from the garlic and vinegar. Perfect.
It will make a meal salad a satisfying treat.

Fascinating! Coming from anyone else, I would be highly skeptical of the banana addition here… But I trust that you know your dressings, so I definitely have to try this one out for myself!

Haha, thanks! Banana is such a fun add to creamy sauces and dressings, perfect in place for recipes that call for sugar, oil, and cream.

You won’t be disappointed! :-)

Looks good! I have a jar of tahini I have rarely touched because I’m unsure what to do with it. It’s a new flavor for me. Need to try this.

Thanks! Tahini is a fun add for many dressings and sauces, it’s even great simply mixed with lemon juice, dill, and pepper.

I bought kale today and thought of your salads. I used it to make kale chips, but I also am going to make a kale and avocado pasta. Baby steps! :-)
christine says
Nice, we go through a lot of kale – I need to add more to our garden!

I can totally see how the banana makes the texture rich and creamy. My guess is that the ginger, tahini, and other ingredients mask the taste.
As much as I love fall, it’s a prelude to winter, so I’m holding on to summer with all of my might.
christine says
Yes, there’s just a slight sweetness from the banana which is perfect. True, your winters are more brutal, Hopefully we get a lot of rain this winter!

This looks so good and original (and it has Sriracha, which I’m quite obsessed with at the moment)! I’m always looking for new dressings, especially as I like to take salads for my lunches. I’m going to try this today!

Thanks, it’s a fun way to mix up salads!
