Miko does not miss an opportunity for a warm and soft bed. I pulled all our clean bedding out of the dryer and threw on the floor for a few seconds and found a little chihuahua nose sticking out of the pile when I went to pick them up.
I can’t blame him, I’ve been wanting to crawl back in bed most of this week!
I think my current pair of Brooks Glycerin 13s are nearing end of life which is a bummer since they only have about 200 miles on them! I’ve been noticing more knee and foot pain the last few weeks and I suspect my shoes after putting a lot of trail miles on them, three half marathons and many long training runs, and soaking them a few times in the rain for tougher miles.
I’m bummed since I got 300 miles out of my last pair, but searching for a new pair to try now.
I’ve also been trying new protein powders this week. I go through about two containers of protein powder a month making smoothies for hubby and I and usually order those through Amazon Subscribe & Save service. For awhile I’ve been using plain Nutiva Hemp Protein and plain Garden of Life Raw Protein which were fine … but got a little too plain after a while and I decided to mix things up this month. First is Garden of Life’s Vanilla Raw Protein & Greens, which is a blend of plant based proteins and fine veggie powder with kale, broccoli, spinach, etc.
I like that it has more veggies and an blend of plant based proteins such as pea, rice, and chia. It has a nice vanilla flavor that isn’t too sweet, but a slight bitterness from the added greens which I didn’t find to be a problem when blended with frozen bananas and other fruits. Overall, thumbs up so far and I will keep it in the protein powder rotation.
Next is Vega Chocolate Protein & Greens – I like this new trend of adding powdered greens to protein. It also has a blend of plant based protein powders and fine veggie powder from kale, spinach, broccoli, etc.
While it has a nice chocolate flavor, it’s not too sweet and I didn’t notice any bitterness in this powder compared to Garden of Life. It blended nicely into a thick smoothie with frozen banana, frozen cherries, kale, carrots, broccoli, and chia seeds.
Hubby and I have been getting more creative with Follow Your Heart’s VeganEgg this week, which you can now buy in a huge jug from Amazon! He made a delicious breakfast scramble for dinner with potatoes and vegan sausage.
I made a huge turmeric veggie scramble topped with hemp seed “parm”.
And mixed it with a brown rice veggie dish for dinner one night that made great leftovers for the week.
I could see myself buying a jug of it for our pantry, it’s so easy to mix in a bowl and add to a skillet or into an oil free stir fry for simple meals.

Thanks for linking to the “jug” of Vegan Egg. I had no idea! Less packaging and a better per “egg” price! Win-win!

Sure and agreed, I was excited to see the less packaging bulk option too!

Yep, whenever my knees begin to hurt I know it’s time for new shoes. I need to buy two pairs this weekend. $$$ :(
I’m still not sure about the vegan egg product. The smell is just too much for me. I make my husband mix it up-haha!
christine says
Yeah, I’ve been having problems with that this week and bummed! But new shoes are on the way after trying Brooks shoe finder – fingers crossed!
True, it does have an odd smell that really bothered hubby when we first tried it. But he loved the texture and flavor in the scramble he created this week and thinks the trick was to mix with ice cold water and not use too much of the VeganEgg product.

I tried hemp protein powder and hated it! Vega I love :-)
christine says
Yeah, it’s earthy texture and flavor is not easy to work with – I blended with lots of frozen banana chunks to balance the texture and sweetness.

I personally like the vega protein powder since it tastes great by itself. But I do get where you are coming from with the raw garden of life powder. Sometimes it is nice to have some bitter flavors you know?
christine says
Agreed on Vega, but true on bitterness sometimes and I like to think the bitterness is because there are more greens in the Garden of Life protein.
