This week started off strong, I was feeling good about starting my mornings earlier for more productivity before work and getting to the gym after a focused vinyasa yoga class on Sunday. Then things started getting crazy at work with lots of projects, urgent problems, and overtime. The IT world can just be fun and spontaneous like that. Multitasking many urgent projects is draining and stressful and can really sabotage my productive life progress. I’m handling the stress better than I would have not that long ago, lots of stopping to breath and remind myself things aren’t as crazy as they seem and there’s lots to be thankful for. And hopefully my skills get better at that with more yoga practice. Smokey already has that mastered, no stress in her life and she has no problem focusing on us intently when she wants something.
Miko is not a fan of stress either, life is a fun adventure especially when there are good crumbs to clean off the floor and get stuck to your nose.
Salads can also be an adventure when you have a fiery turmeric dressing coating them. Turmeric seems to be the hot superfood now with many health claims that I’m not ready to jump on the bandwagon with. But it’s kicky, warming, and a great add for savory sauces with a touch of heat. I blended with it carrots and tahini because they seem to be my theme ingredients this week and also because the slightly sweet carrot and tangy, creamy tahini work well with turmeric’s savory heat.
Fiery Turmeric Dressing
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. ground turmeric
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne (less or optional depending on desired heat level)
- 1/2 cup water as needed
- salt and pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy! Makes 4 servings.
The warm and vibrant color screams summer sunset.
And just adds flare and style to a salad.
The flavor is kicky and savory with a daring level of heat, it’s warming and igniting without too much heat.
And completed this filling meal salad.

What I love about your fiery turmeric dressing is that is packs a lot of flavor without a lot of calories! Totally need that =) And I have a grey cat named Smokie too, but we obviously smell it differently and he’s a boy =)

Agreed, dressings can be so caloric with tons of empty calories from oil and cream. Sad when they can be veggie based and great too! :-) Awesome about your cat, such a great name. :-)
