New Purse and Squash Hash

September 29, 2012 by christine

I am rough on purses and shoes, I seem to go through a lot of them with my job and running around like a crazy person sometimes. And finding good vegan-friendly options to replace them isn’t always easy since I don’t like spending a lot of money on something with will probably be taking a lot of abuse. While searching Etsy for a new, large, casual winter purse, I came across seller Bayan Hippo and instantly became excited about the selection of classy and simple handmade canvas bags for awesome prices. So I ordered this large, gray hobo. How could I resist for $37?

The bag is large, light weight, and very clean looking with a zippered top. The gray color is perfect for winters here, hiding stains, and going with just about any outfit.

And there are tons of pockets inside for phones, glasses, keys, etc.

For the price, I was surprised it even came with a dust cover for storage.

It’s huge, but not that huge and perfect for lugging work items, umbrella, water bottles, etc. along with my usual purse items.

So I’m thrilled and will probably be ordering more from this seller soon!

Meals the last few days have not been that exciting for me – smoothies, salads, and leftovers. Our kitchen is getting end-of-the-week bare, so I been having to get creative with what we have. For this meal it was only quarter of a spaghetti squash, package of tempeh, and some hummus. So I cubed the tempeh and sauteed it in a fry pan to crisp up the edges.

While I steamed the spaghetti squash in the microwave then scooped the squash into the fry pan with the tempeh.

Then I added a sauce I threw together quickly of hummus, water, and nutritional yeast along with a dash of Trader Joe’s Everyday Seasoning blend to jazz it up. I wasn’t following a recipe, just throwing what I had into the pan to experiment and it was a success! I ended up with something very similar to a crunchy breakfast potato hash that was also a one-pot meal with the tempeh and had a creamy zing from the hummus sauce.

Spaghetti squash makes a great hash alternative to potatoes, it mimics the crunchy texture nicely while making a blank canvas for whatever seasonings you want to add.

Shadow seem very curious about my dinner creation joining us at the table to paw at the plates and kiss up to hubby.

How can you resist that face?

$37 for a purse is dirt cheap regardless but the fact that it’s handmade? WHAT a score!! Great job and love it!
