Sacramento Vegan Food Festival for the List

June 20, 2021 by christine

Sunday already? Boo. It has been a busy and hot week here with 5 days of triple digit heat so there has been a lot of chilled watermelon served with my simple salads and tofu stir fries.

And a delicious vegan pizza with added vegan parm and artichoke hearts Friday night since we decided it was too hot and we were too lazy to go out.

Miko has not been happy about the heat, especially when it does not cool down enough for evening walks. We have been very careful to go for very early morning walks and keeping him in the AC. But the poor guy gets a little bored and frustrated.

We did venture out in the heat yesterday for the Sacramento Vegan Food Festival not sure what to expect as the first vegan festival since COVID-19. It was pretty exciting to get out to a festival again and lots of booths with vegan goodies and food.

Food choices were a little overwhelming, not a bad problem to have! I decided on the Vegan Bangin’ Bowl from Bangin’ Bowls food truck.

And Ron got the No Harm, No Fowl Chik’n Sando and Resistance Balls from Rabbit Food Revolution.

Then we finished with kombuchas from KC Kombucha. Everything was great, the bowl had a great blend of flavors and textures while the sandwich was very filling with a crispy patty. It was tempting to try more, explore, and shop. But it was getting hot and we were already stuffed. It was a great event, glad to see vegan events again, and looking forward to the next.

Tonight Ron made a special, decadent vegan lasagna with Impossible Burger, vegan ricotta, and Miyoko’s Vegan Mozz. It was not exactly low cal, but delicious!

Again, boo on it being Sunday heading into a busy work week. Hopefully you have a great week ahead and this list is a positive start.

  • Got to try Trader Joe’s Vegan “Pork” rings.
  • Vegan cookbooks that make it easy to go plant-based.
  • The Korean Vegan inspires with heat. And a beautiful blog!
  • Testing vegan boxed mac n’ cheese.
  • Top vegan pasta with fried breadcrumbs.
  • Best vegan ice creams.
  • Viral vegan recipes to try. Yes please.
  • Low-carb vegan breakfast recipes.

I’ve had the Sacramento Food Festival on my calendar for well over a year, since the 2020 cancellation! I was sad to see it come and go now, so far out of reach. I’m glad you got to enjoy though, and moreover, that it actually happened this time! What a lovely return to “normalcy,” and here’s to many more events to come.
