June already? Whoa. I am trying to get back to a healthier place after a tough year and decided to get back to the gym this weekend because finding drive and motivation for home workouts has been increasingly tough lately. It was an interesting experience working out with a mask on, but nice to get back into a better weight training routine that my body is reminding me it’s been too long! And it was not as hot this weekend thankfully, so I’ve been able to safely get Miko out for the long walks and sniff sessions he loves so much.
There has also been vegan pizza Friday with added artichoke hearts before watching the new The Conjuring movie which was good!
Memorial Day involved some fun last minute plans. We initially planned to stay home with the AC cranked for Miko because the high was 106 degrees, but ended up meeting my sisters and their families for a haunted escape room which was more like a mini theme park adventure and fun way to escape the heat.
There were 9 of us crammed into a room with an hour time limit to work through the puzzles and my first escape room experience. The adults held back a bit to watch the teenagers start, then we all scrambled to work the puzzles for the second half and were literally minutes away from solving the final puzzle before time ran out! Oh well, next time and I was surprised at how challenging it was to work through the clues and figure out the props, a good team challenge.
After we headed to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch where I got the Vegan Cobb Salad and Ron for the vegan Impossible Burger and were home in time to get Miko his mid-day medications.
It has been an interesting work week, 4 very busy days and simple eats at home of salads, stir fries, and sautés. I will get more creative in the kitchen one of these days.
The was also spicy vegan ramen with veggies and TVP which Miko was very ready to share with us.
We stepped out last night to Midtown Sushi where their vegan menu is still awesome and it’s nice be able to enjoy dining out more again.
Tonight was a lazy and simple salad after chores and shopping. But cute Miko was very ready to share, he still loves his stair podium between our chairs at the dining table where he’ll often eagerly wait for us to sit and share food.
And now here I am battling the Sunday blues again hoping for a good work week and good week for Miko. I am always carefully monitoring his symptoms and breathing rate and worry about every cough just wanting him to be healthy and happy and trying to be optimistic with his MVD heart condition. I hope you have a happy and healthy week and this list is a good start.

I’m sad I never got to Midtown Sushi before leaving the area! I hope I can still visit someday… And kudos to you for getting out there and being so active. We’re all a bit off-kilter, and it’s going to take a while still before things feel “normal” again.

Ah, I hope you can too – such amazing vegan options! Thanks, trying to be active. Need more options now that triple digit heat is back – ugh!
