We are having a lazy Sunday here so far after a fun family gathering and me being a little sore from trying new classes on Apple Fitness. Miko has been a sweetie and pretty stable on his new medication routine, we had to adjust his diuretic last week when his cough started creeping back and breathing rate increased. He is a fan of sharing relaxed weekend morning breakfasts with me and sleeping in after an eventful day yesterday.
The summer will be a challenge here when the dry, triple digit heat starts because keeping him cool with his heart condition is very important. I got cooling gel pillow pads to rotate in the freezer and place in his bed when needed to cool him down quickly and only very early or night walks which will frustrate him.
Eats have been simple this week, vegan pizza from Grocery Outlet, salads, and tofu stir fries.
And we’re still really enjoying dining out again with lunches from Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine and vegan Thai on Friday.
The weather has been interesting and strange this week, though strange and unpredictable appears to be the new normal. Highs have been in the 70s, lots of clouds and wind, and some rain. It’s usually much hotter this time of year, but we’re not complaining and making the most of it before the heat kicks in.
And we had a fun family backyard party last night with everyone bringing their dogs and enjoying a taco bar. Beans, Impossible grounds, and Chao Mexican Style shreds for the vegan options – yum. Miko had a really great time meeting a new dog his size before he got tired and retreated to my lap while the big, younger dogs really loved making a mess in water buckets. It was great to spend time with family and great to relax today, catch up before the week, and enjoy a leisurely long walk with Miko and run to enjoy this last day in the 70s for awhile. And a long, holiday weekend next week!

Hey there. Glad Miko is doing ok! One item you may want to consider is a cooling jacket. I use them for my English Mastiff and Great Pyrenees. Amazon’s version is much cheaper than the Ruffwear one, and it stays cooler longer. It runs small, so I’d use a cloth tape measure. Hope it helps.
