This week flew by way too fast and I feel like I’ve been disconnected keeping busy with work, but will get back into a grove. I have been mixing things up at the gym trying to keep motivation up and trying the stairwell stepper machines for cardio. They are intense! It took a few weeks to build up to doing 30 minutes at a fast pace, but feels great after sitting at a desk during the work day.
Miko has been perfectly happy to snooze more and just demands regular walks for his exercise.
We are starting to see signs of fall here and it’s exciting, leaves just starting to turn, cooler temps for runs, and rain! Need to go pumpkin shopping next weekend and plan a trip to Apple Hill.
Lots of interesting eats this week including a Trader Joe’s grain blend with chickpeas and veggies mixed in and a kicky tempeh stir fry with my new fermented garlic hot sauce I’ve been obsessed with.
Lots of gorgeous cloudy sunsets and Miko being cute wanting to share dinner with us.
Sprouts has their own brand of protein pasta now that’s cheaper and I tried the Organic Red Lentil Penne with marinara sauce, peas, and sauteed kale added.
It was delicious with a hearty texture and absorbed the sauce flavors nicely.
With all the climate change news lately, I have been favoring my climate gym tank more and usually get compliments on it at the gym.
There were more basic eats this week, tofu and veggie stir fries, but also the delicious Vegan Beyond Burger from Yard House.
And we stepped out to Midtown Sushi for more of their amazing vegan sushi creations. The Vegan Mushroom Tenders, Vegan Spider Roll, Vegan OFMG Roll, Veggie #1 Roll, and the Vegan Firecracker Roll.
It’s hard to go anywhere else for vegan sushi when they have such a great vegan menu and I can’t wait to see what they do next month for the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge!
Today we had vegan meetup at Mendocino Farms which I have been wanting to try for their vegan options. There is a small dedicated vegan section on the menu with many more vegan options scattered around the menu and they have the Impossible Burger. I tried the Mendo’s Smokehouse Tempeh Sandwich and was very impressed with the flavor and texture.
And the Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge is coming up! There are 44 restaurants participating so far this year which is a big jump from last year and will be tough to get to them all! I love that we have so many great vegan dine out options in this area now and it just keeps growing.

I’ve been very surprised and impressed with Mendocino Farms, too! So much of their menu is vegan friendly, and they even have a vegan cookie- Pretty rare for a true omnivore spot, and a chain, no less. I absolutely love their Impossible taco salad, with the dairy-free ranch dressing and everything. Now I’m craving it all over again!

LOVING this post! Nice shirt! And of course all of the glorious food! YUM! It’s officially fall, here, too. There have been a few days in the upper 60s and then a few days in the upper 80s. I’m cool with fall…I just hate winter!

Thanks! Yes for fall, we have a few days in the 90s here then to the 70s which is crazy. Hoping you get a mild winter this year!
