Birthday Eats for the List

Happy Birthday to me and it’s been a fun weekend of celebration! Gah, 42! It’s just a number I keep telling myself, but time can fly. It’s been a fun week with the camping trip, short work week, and a fun weekend even though I am still doing laundry and putting stuff away from the camping trip! For the couple of days at work after we got back, I kept things simple making fried rice with camp leftovers and simple tofu stir fries for easy meals and leftovers for lunch. And finally made it back to Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine for dinner Friday which I have been missing the last few weeks with our busier work schedules!

Yesterday I started the birthday celebration in Auburn with my mom and sisters for lunch on the patio at Nectar Cafe.

The buffalo cauliflower taco with beans and rice was delicious! We shopped in the downtown area for a bit and stopped at Tango Frozen Yogurt to cool off where I got a vegan pomegranate raspberry sorbet for the vegan options topped with fruit and boba which was very refreshing.

We wine tasted our way home through the foothills leaving me pretty wiped, so it was a simple dinner of marinara potato-veggie saute and relaxing with sweet Miko who enjoyed a veggie teeth cleaning chewy.

This morning I woke up to sweet gifts from hubby with flowers, took Miko for a long walk before it got hot and went for an easy run/walk taking in the scenery.

Showered and headed to our new local Puskin’s Bakery & Cafe location for brunch. Puskin’s is an insanely popular gluten free bakery and cafe in Midtown Sacramento with great vegan options. They just opened a new location closer to us and I was so excited to finally try it. Check out all the vegan options on the menu!

And tons of vegan baked goods, we had to try these chocolate cupcakes that were the perfect, small size. I don’t remember what they were called, but the staff recommended them when I was overwhelmed with all the vegan options to choose from. I also got the Noble Tofu Sandwich which was great with vegan cheese sauce, sprouts, and pickles. Hubby for the Fried Mushroom Po Boy that was also excellent.

I am already looking forward to going back to try more and it’s located very close to our mall, Whole Foods, and great shopping for a girls day.

And we’re heading out to dinner to wrap up the day, so it’s been non-stop fun here which I’m thankful for. Going to be tough getting back to work tomorrow, but oh well. To the list first!
