Things are still pretty smokey here and the news of the fires pretty sad. Friday night and Saturday morning was really bad with layers of ash now, so we’ve been spending more time indoors catching up on projects and playing retro video games. Miko is still frustrated with not enough walks.
After a breezy night, it was actually pretty clear for this morning’s run, but the smokey haze is back this afternoon. Perfect time to catch up on laundry and cleaning inside.
Eats this week have been pretty typical with salads, tofu stir fries, and marinara sautes.
But this oatmeal was not typical. I added Tru-Nut Chocolate Flavor peanut powder and sauteed bananas with vanilla flax milk for a delicious combination.
There was a tasty lunch at Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine of Kung Pao Tofu.
And we braved the smokey haze to head to midtown Sacramento Friday for the Impossible Burger Drunken Noodles from Thai Basil Midtown.
When I saw a post about this on Facebook, I had to get hubby there soon who adores both the Impossible Burger and drunken noodles. It was great and served over fresh greens with tomatoes for a new twist. It was nice that the serving size was not out of control. I got a delicious curry tofu dish with brown rice and we shared the mango sweet coconut rice dessert.
Then walked around midtown where there was plenty of action with a creepy red setting sun from the smoke. But also this sweet jar of flowers with a note on the sidewalk.
Last night I joined a group of vegan friends at Cantina Azteca to try their vegan options and I’m excited find more great local Mexican options.
I’m glad I did because getting together with friends is so important now for good company and positive conversation. This is a new local meetup group of just vegan and vegan-curious friends getting together to try local vegan options and there was a group of about 10 of us includding a new older lady there just getting into the plant-based movement to reverse health problems and get off medications. She was refreshingly honest about her health problems and struggles and the group was so eager to offer support and answer questions.
Hubby stayed home for his own guy’s night of wine and Daiya Meatless Meat Lovers pizza.
Which he gave a thumbs up for the occasional comfort craving.
Boo on the weekend being almost over, I am looking at a busy week next week with setting up IT equipment at a new facility and being on call. Hopefully it will go smoothly! And I hope everyone has a great week too! How about some inspiration from this week’s list?

That mango sticky rice looks like a plateful of heaven right about now. I love the stuff but haven’t ordered it in ages! I might need to treat myself one of these days…

Haha yes, they seem to be going by too fast lately. Yes on Atari – got hubby a funny little handheld retro gaming device with Atari games. :-P
