Blah, I am feeling a little cranky today and not sure why, I shouldn’t be. It’s been an okay week and productive weekend. And sweet Miko has been extra cuddly and sweet looking forward to TV lap time.
And being a sleepy office buddy while I sort through and shred old paperwork.
Maybe all of the bad news this week or last few weeks, maybe craving some more fun time, maybe work stress, or all of the above. Next weekend is the Urban Cow half marathon and training has been going good, but I had a frustrating 6+ mile taper run this morning which probably didn’t help my mood.
I grabbed our new sport sunblock spray bottle to use before and discovered it was defective, the top nozzle did not work at all like the bottle was not properly pressurized. After trying to get it to work and breaking off the nozzle, I had to run to Target to get more sunblock before the run. Then I missed tracking part of the run because the Runkeeper app bombed out on my phone and watch thanks to the Now Playing “feature” Apple added to the watch that closed the Runkeeper app when it started the music playlist instead of allowing it to connect to the phone and crashed both when I tried to re-sync them. Ugh, hope that’s fixed soon!
And maybe it’s a bit of the Sunday blues as I face another busy work week. But things are starting to look and feel like fall around here at that’s awesome. And hubby and I had a successful trip to Ikea looking at ideas to re-organize the home office a bit, but not buying too much. And our local Ikea finally added electric car charging stations – woohoo!
Eats have been interesting this week starting with this colorful wheat soba noodle soup for dinner one night.
And I found a great deal on Nasoya Marinated Baked Tofu at Grocery Outlet, so I bought four packages that I’ve been having fun with this week.
It’s been great in stir fries and chopped into salads for quick and flavorful protein.
And I’ve been working through a package of sweet potatoes adding them to curry chickpea stews.
And oil free tamari stir fries.
Yes, I’ve been enjoying as much fresh watermelon as I can since it’s almost out of season.
Oh, and sweet potatoes were great in this simple chard stir fry.
A co-worker decided to bring in cookies this week and sweetly brought in a huge vegan cookie just for me from Sugar Plum Plant Based Bakery.
It had a moist and soft texture while not being too sweet with more of a savory walnut and dark chocolate flavor depth.
We also stepped out for spicy and colorful vegan Thai dishes Friday.
I also made savory ramen soup with black rice noodles last night, yum.
And a messy, post run salad for lunch with kale, olives, and roasted smokey chickpeas.
Whew, been a great week of eats that I can’t be cranky about. So to the short list this week.
How to get ripped on a vegan diet.
How running helps work productivity.
Fast food going eco-friendly and plant-based, yes!

Call the company of the defective sunblock bottle! I work in packaging and while defects are usually low, some times a bad part slips through. Any good company should send you a new bottle, coupon for a free one, or just send a check. You can always take it back to the store you bought it from, they’ll take it back and send it to the sunscreen company. Don’t let that money go to waste :)

Yes, I need to, thanks! It seems like a hassle to go through that for the cost, but also frustrating about the waste.

Your eats this week are terrific!!!! Yesterday it was about 88 here – which is weird for almost October. Today should be around 90. Very strange! I always look to you and my friend in Yuma, AZ, to see the high temps. It’s been yet another oddball weather year, eh!?
christine says
Thanks! Wow on the temps, that does sound strange!

That kale salad/all of that food looks delish. It’s so hot in Boston still – in the 80’s! Can’t wait for those fall temps to arrive!

Thanks! :-) Wow on the temps in Boston, very strange. Our highs are back in the 90s this week, it’s odd too.

I’m convinced that your grocery outlet gets much better stick than mine. I love that marinated tofu and just bought two packs of it at full price- worth it, but not cheap!
