It’s hard not to feel a bit of the Sunday blues looking at a full work week ahead after 4 days off and lots of family fun, but getting a Christmas tree today and decorating helped while watching Prancer. I got some new products from V-Dog this week – Mini Bites Kibble for smaller dogs and Wiggle Biscuits to spoil our pups with.
The kibble is awesome for smaller dogs, so much better at absorbing warm water and veggie broth for tiny mouths.
I just wish it came in bags larger than 4.5 lbs. since I like to bulk buy and I confirmed they plan to have that available in the future.
The Wiggle Biscuits are the perfect size for smaller dogs too and come in cute little hearts.
Miko took a little time to check them out and even buried his first one in his bed to come back to later.
But he’s a fan now and Leela is a huge fan.
I also received the 11 lb. Royal Treatment box of organic dates I ordered from 7 Hot Dates.
I am so excited to have these for holiday recipes, smoothies, and fueling long runs! And that it included new date varieties I’ve never tried before. Fresher and cheaper per pound versus buying from Whole Foods or Costco.
This box probably won’t last long for me!
Last night we had family Thanksgiving 2 at my sister’s house, I could never get tired of family gatherings with great company, food, and wine. Only we took a break from the traditional menu and went with a taco theme. So easy to make vegan friendly and my simple tacos with pinto beans, Daiya Cheddar Shreds, and hot sauce hit the spot after days of eating Thanksgiving leftovers.
So did this splurge dessert. Hubby grabbed a Just Desserts Vegan Chocolate Midnight Cake when he spotted it in the local grocery store bakery – isn’t that awesome?
And amazing with a thick layer of chocolate in the middle – not dry and very rich.
But that will be my last splurge since it’s back to locking in a low fat, high whole carbs diet with a week countdown to the marathon. Yikes! Today was the final 8 mile taper run which the weather was perfect for and I test ran the clothing and gear I’m planning to use for the marathon.
Think the reality still has not kicked in because I’m not feeling too nervous. Hoping for the best, but not putting an intense time goal since it’s my first marathon, I want it to be a fun experience above all.
My simple post long run lunch was steamed potatoes, kidney beans, and veggies seasoned with veggie broth and Trader Joe’s everyday seasoning blend.
Not exciting, but hearty and low fat. This week will be about lots of rice, potatoes, and quinoa.
The list:
Soy packs many health benefits, especially for women.
15 vegan sausages for the holidays.
Veggies over supplements for a healthy immune system.
7 reasons to go vegan in this cute video.

Those dog treats look like something my moms dog would eat!! (Our dog, on the other hand, is a picky eater, haha)… – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com

One of our dogs is very picky too and she finally warmed up to V-Dog after a lot of patience. :-)
