First thing every morning, I send the chihuahuas to the backyard to do their business and they’re still not happy about the chilly, morning air and can’t wait to come in for breakfast.
And I can’t wait for the weekend! It’s been a crazy week and salads are a comfort food for me when things get crazy especially with this creamy and cheesy dressing made from cauliflower and avocado. It’s thick, gooey, and could be a great dip, spread, or used to coat steamed veggies too.
Cauliflower Cheesy Sauce
- 1 cup chopped cauliflower
- 1 avocado, seeded and scooped
- ¼ cup nutritional yeast
- 1 clove of garlic
- ½ tsp. onion powder
- 2 tsp. Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp. smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water, as needed
- Salt and pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy. Makes 4-6 servings. Use as a dressing, sauce for steamed veggies, or dip.
I’m still using up foods from the fridge as we prepare for it to be replaced, so the salad was an interesting blend of chopped romaine and endive that actually was delicious with this dressing.
Especially topped with smokey, crunchy vegan bacon bits.
The dressing has a silky texture that you would never guess is cauliflower based and a creamy, savory cheesy kick.
Get more veggies in with this decadent cheesy sauce!

Avocado is seriously the best “secret” ingredient that makes everything that much more indulgent without making it a guilty treat!! This sauce is amazing! Kind of like all your awesomeness though so I am not too surprised – ha ha!

So true, I love using it in simple sauces as an alternative to dairy and oil! And thanks! :-)

You make the best dressings! I always make the same one that I bring to work for my salads when I’m rushing in the morning because I’m so used to doing it. I need to take a few more minutes and make one of your tasty versions.

Thanks! :-) I have a few go to dressings when I’m short on time too like avocado ginger or hummus mixed with vinegar and nutritional yeast.
