Poor Miko cuddled with hubby last night while he pouted at me for putting his favorite toy in the wash.
But I had no choice, he managed to pee on it when he took it outside to do his business. Silly guy!
Smokey was not impressed with the drama and preferred sunbathing.
I was craving a huge salad for dinner last night after weekend eating and needed to use up another cheap bag of avocados I picked up at Grocery Outlet. And I’m inspired to use more raisins and apple cider vinegar lately. I created this savory, sweet, creamy, and tangy dressing to go with a meal salad topped with chopped veggie burgers, it has a kicky chili flavor with a playful sweetness and texture perfect for coating greens. Of course no oil or sugar!
Avocado Cumin Dressing
- 1 avocado, seeded and scooped
- 3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup raisins
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 2 tbsp. nutritional yeast
- ½ cup water, as needed
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy! Makes 2-4 servings.
I know, it’s an interesting color as many avocado dressings are. But the flavor makes up for that!
The creamy texture paired well with this hearty salad and the crispy, crumbled veggie burgers.
It’s another fun option for enjoying salads.
And Miko perked up when we shared chopped carrot with him.

No clue what’s gotten into me lately, but all I want to eat are avocado’s. It’s insane. Looking forward to trying this! And pets, ha, they are so picky! When I finally wash the dog beds or toys, they freak out on me and get so mad because they don’t smell right anymore. But they make me laugh.

Me too on avocados, thankfully they’re good for us! I need to try adding to a smoothie next!
And my pups too, they pout and fuss on bed and blanket washing days and Miko sniffs and pouts at his toy when I take it out because it’s not his stink anymore. :-)

I can often get really cheap bags of avocados a Berkeley Bowl these days, so I’m definitely going to take advantage of that luxury and whip up a batch of your dressing! I wouldn’t have thought to add raisins, but I can imagine that would be really nice for some balanced, earthy sweetness.

Raisins work great in place of agave or medjool dates to a little thickening sweetness and I’m really interested in the healthy benefits after hearing Dr. Greger.

I just bought cumin at the grocery store this past weekend becasue I’ve seen it in a few recipes I wanted to try. I’ll have to try it in a salad dressing now too.
My pups hate it when I take their toys to wash them but love them so much when they’re clean so they can get their smell on it again. It’s so funny. Same thing with going to the groomers, they hate going but strut around for hours afterwards.

True, Miko pouts a bit when I give the toy back clean because he doesn’t recognize his stink, but then he loves it. :-)

Haha! My little Coco has a stuffed dog (it’s as big as she is) that she stole from Alex’s room and she get’s so upset when I wash it.
The dressing looks like tahini, nothing wrong with that color. :)

How cute on Coco, I can just imagine her carrying it around!
True on tahini, it’s amazing stuff!
