Skipper has been hanging in there after his little spell on Friday, but still not 100%. He’s slower, not as interested in food as he was, which is very strange for him, and seems a little more confused. He still seems happy and not like he’s in pain, but that can be tough to tell with him since he’s so laid back. Hubby and I are keeping a close eye on him and will take him to the vet if needed. The tricky thing with him is he can’t go under general anesthesia with his heart condition, so surgery is not an option.
Miko has been as happy as ever eagerly following me around the house like a little cutie.
I feel a little bad for not giving him enough attention with so much going on at work and with our other pets having issues. But he’s such a good, supportive little guy to the other pets and us.
It’s finally starting to show signs of fall around here and that’s awesome! It was cool and overcast for my long run yesterday with a little breeze. And we’ve been enjoying gorgeous sunsets from our backyard since it’s actually cool enough to now.
And having a little fun snapping moon pics.
Trader Joe’s finally has fall squashes and I scored this huge acorn squash for just $1.29 that I cooked over the weekend by baking the cut sides down in shallow water for 40 minutes at 350 degrees, then turning the cut side up for another 20 minutes to crisp the outsides.
And threw together a simple hemp seed, endive, and balsamic salad to go with it.
For a festive and filling fall plate.
Tonight I got daring and tried the other Tempt Hemp Tofu package I bought a couple of weeks ago.
I first tried the plain flavor and was not thrilled with it, the texture and bitterness weren’t great. This time I sauteed the Mexican Chorizo flavor with broccoli, onion, and Mexican seasonings.
And the chunks also crumbled into little pieces during the cooking process for a messy looking dish.
But the flavor was better than the first package, nowhere near as bitter. The Mexican seasonings it marinated with in the package helped the flavor a lot.
Still I wouldn’t say it was awesome and I don’t think I’ll buy the plain flavor again, but I’m open to trying the other flavors.

Sorry to hear Skipper is still not up to par. I know what you mean about be worried about the ones that are ailing and the others that are doing well being supportive! Our Suzie has lost 3 pounds since the spring. We are monitoring it as well. She’s acting completely fine, tho. She’s the Queen Bee of our household so it’s strange to see her losing the weight be acting completely fine. Paco has a new(er) spot that we are keeping any eye on. I think it was one of the original spots he had that is healing, tho. He’s trucking around the house nicely, too! He LOVED vacation…the spoiled little tike! LOL I haven’t seen Hemp Tofu in a while…will have to grab some the next time I see it! The food looks great – as always. I’m hungry for broccoli for some reason. And I need to get into the fall foods more. It might be time to make soups soon…but I do need to go to the store and stands for fresh and frozen produce soon!
