Finally the weekend and finally hubby is home from his business trip, whew! Shadow is hanging in there, his white blood cell count is still up which could be a few things and feline leukemia is still a possibility. He’s on prednisone for 2 weeks before going back for another follow up vet appointment. He’s still eating and seems energetic and happy, so hopefully good news at the next appointment.
And I finally made it to Mother Sacramento for lunch. I know, took me long enough. Mother Sacramento is a new vegan/vegetarian restaurant in downtown Sacramento with a classy, but urban decor.
Lots of natural wood, with metal and graffiti accents … in a classy way. And the menu isn’t huge, but packs a lot of creativity.
There is also a lovely outdoor dining patio on K street that the weather was perfect for today. We started with the vanilla lemonade which was more like a sweet treat and very unique.
And I got the spicy carrot nut burger with a unique patty of carrots and nuts with a spicy kick.
It’s also packed with portobello mushroom, ketchup, mustard, and fresh pickles.
It was a little messy to eat, but tangy and delicious with a fun level of spice that wasn’t too powerful. And the view from our table made for some fun people watching.
Overall it was a great experience and I’m already looking forward to going back for dinner to try the house made pasta.
The location was perfect to stroll the tree-lined streets and shops of downtown and check out the blue tree project.
Great way to end a busy week.
Sounds like a neat time! Cool place! Great menu! I even see Farro on there – I just made that last night for my lunch today. Hope to have the recipe on my blog Monday or so
