Great Eats and Views in Tahoe

July 4, 2013 by christine

Aw, I am still in vacation mode… what day of the week is it? Oh yeah, Happy 4th of July! We’ve been having a great time in Lake Tahoe the last few days hiking, biking, exploring, relaxing, and eating. Some notable eats from the last couple of days are this pineapple teriyaki veggie burger from Bridgetender in Tahoe City.

We also stopped by Mamasake Sushi in Squaw Village for dinner last night where I started with beer and edamame.

And got this unique yuzu-soy veggie bowl with red beans and rice.

And we stopped back by Squaw Village today for lunch at Fireside Pizza Co. after a morning of hiking and exploring. I got a unique custom vegan pizza with pear slices, pineapple, artichoke hearts, and sweet peppers with a light olive oil drizzle and seasoning since their house marinara sauce has cheese in it.

It was a good light and tasty combo.

Yesterday was kind of a relax and explore day, hubby and I explored Tahoe City and drove all the way up to Hidden Beach in North Tahoe to hike and take in the beautifully clear water.

Then we cruised back through Tahoe City for lunch, and back to our resort in Olympic Valley to enjoy the pools and hot tub some more. But we only had about an hour to enjoy them before this wicked storm blew through the valley. We got a bird’s eye view of nature’s lightening show from our hotel room and watched low clouds drift by between rain downpours.

This morning we headed to a hiking trail in Truckee that was mild and pretty.

Then drove into downtown Truckee just in time for 4th of July festivities and parade set up.

The little town with old buildings and cute little shops is so much fun to explore, but it was a little crowded today.

Too crowded to find lunch, so we headed back to Squaw Village to enjoy their 4th festivities too with live music and activities.

Now we’re deciding if we want to try and see fireworks by the lake or not, another nasty thunder and lightening storm is in the forecast and it will be very crowded. Maybe we’ll just enjoy nature’s show at the resort tonight. :-)

Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July!
