Weekend of Splurge

March 10, 2013 by christine

What a dirty trick spring forward is! I woke up early this morning thinking I had time for a long run and to touch up my hair roots before church, then realized we lost an hour. Ugh! Oh well, it’s been a great weekend so far and kind of nice to disconnect a little after such a crazy week since Friday at work was even worse with another co-worker going home sick and me trying to juggle way too much at once. I managed to sneak off to Whole Foods for lunch and had a pricey salad and Synergy Chia drink.

I like that the chia seeds add a hearty texture without adding too many calories. I also planned on picking up more Tints of Nature hair color to do my hair this weekend, but wouldn’t you know my color was the only one they were out of – argh!

And because I was not in the mood to prepare dinner Friday night, hubby and I stepped out for Thai food where I got this wonderful curry tofu stir fry with eggplant.

Saturday I woke up nice and early, drank coffee and a huge hemp protein smoothie with banana, frozen berries, carrots, cacao powder, and kale.

And had a leisurely long workout in our home gym, but Miko was making the ab portion of it a little tricky.

After running a few errands, lunch was tempeh stir fry leftovers with a simple spinach tomato balsamic salad topped with Trader Joe’s Vegan Mozzarella Shreds at home.

Later hubby and I stepped out for dinner and a movie at the Palladio outdoor mall area in Folsom.

We saw Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D and really liked it, the effects were a wild and fun romp being cutting edge while preserving the charm of the original Wizard of Oz and the story lightened up the seriousness with humor. And thankfully where was another Whole Foods in the shopping plaza that did have my hair color in stock. :-)

We decided to go more casual for dinner stopping a Freebirds World Burrito, I’ve never been to one before, but I dug the laid back freedom and peace themed atmosphere.

The chips were a little salty, but the selection of salsa was fun.

And the veggie burrito bowl was not too big or pricy.

But I was not feeling daring enough to try this!

Doesn’t it seem like spring forward shortens the weekend by a lot more than an hour?
Gotta laugh at Miko and his “assistance” with your exercise routine, too cute!

Yes and I blame the lack of sleep and feeling rushed by an hour for the rest of the weekend, not fair!

Your lunch looks so yummy. I was so sad this morning when I realized my phone jumped an hour, and the alarm clock did not. Waaa :(

So true about losing an hour and I know I’ll feel it at work today. This madness must stop! :-)

I just can’t get into those chia drinks– I guess you either love ’em or hate ’em. :-)

I’ve been tempted to try those Synergy drinks but it seems the only ones I have locally are the MOMS to BE ones and Lord know I’m NOT a Mom-to-be! LOL

I need to get my hair done…BAD…lol…

I think we might go watch that movie at some point. LOVE the cat pic laying on your stomach while exercising!

    That sauce sounds interesting!!!
Glad you had a nice weekend :)
