New Vegan Purse

September 7, 2011 by christine

Well yesterday was not a great start to the short week, work is still insanely busy and I had to leave early to rush to the Emergency Room for my grandma who had a minor health scare that caused her care home to call in an ambulance. It was a long 6-hour wait in a dull, TV-less ER room before she was finally admitted into the hospital. Even worse was a crappy cell signal that drained my iPhone’s battery and prevented family from contacting me. Spending that much time in the ER was awful, I was worried for her and feeling a little depressed in the sterile and cold environment. I managed to grab a quick dinner in the cafeteria that was awful – a wilted spinach salad from the limited salad bar washed down with fruit juice. Hardly exciting and way overpriced. Thankfully she’s doing better and stable in the hospital now, but what a long day! When I got home late, all I wanted to do was take a glass of wine to a bubble bath.

Receiving a splurge purchase from Etsy when I got home was a nice mood lifter – a classy and huge vegan purse from TRACCE Bags for fall and winter.

I debated about purchasing a vegan purse that looks like leather and trust me, I searched high and low for a fair trade vegan purse that looked work appropriate and not like I’m in junior high. But there just doesn’t seem to be many options in the obviously-not-leather-but-professional purses out there. Especially ones large enough to fit all the snacks and tech toys I usually lug. This one is and very sharp looking with high-quality details for hand made. And it has tons of pockets for stuffing my cell phones, car keys, iPod, loose papers with chicken-scratched recipes on them, etc.

And I feel all luxo and high fashion having a purse made in Italy for under $100. :-)

I’m thrilled because my pink pleather purse is out-of-season and looking a little ratty, can’t wait to sport this to work tomorrow.

Another mood lifter was powering through a 3.5 mile run after work today and still having energy to make beautiful salad for dinner using this perfect avocado.

My avocado luck has been spotty lately with my crazy schedule, so I was thrilled find this one in perfect ripeness and turned it into my Avocado Ginger Dressing for a loaded dinner salad.

Also packed with home-grown sprouts and cultured veggies.

Which I enjoyed while watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition for a little positive uplift. Think I’ll counter that by watching Archer with hubby after hitting publish. :-)

I love the pics of your food, the light hitting it is splendid. And the color vibrancy is wonderful!

Your grandma. SO SORRY for the scare. I can only imagine your nerves!

The purse…gorgeous. I am sure that any “doesnt look like leather” purses are cloth and flimsy or fabric and just not professional looking as you said.

My questions are…can you fit a laptop in the purse? Or a camera with big lens attached? My mind always goes there!

Thanks on the pics, yours are totally rocking too! :-)

Thanks, hopefully she’ll be out of the hospital soon and into another care facility.

That was a problem with many vegan purses, they’re fine for casual weekends, but not professional for work. You could fit a netbook/iPad in there and my DSLR will fit in the compact case with the smaller standard and macro lenses. Not with the telephoto lens though.

Hope your grandma recovers quickly and can get out of the hospital soon! They’re such draining places to be.

Love the purse (and the TRACCE tip)! It definitely looks professional and roomy enough to store all your sundry items. I always debate about whether it’s okay to buy leather-looking items, but you’re right – the non-leathery-looking ones never seem quite professional enough.

I really wanted to find a classy, non-leather looking vegan purse and spent weeks browsing Etsy with no luck.

So sorry to hear about your grandma being back in the hospital, hope things are better soon!
The vegan non-leather looking but professional-looking thing is really a problem. I don’t often carry a bag but really struggle to find the right shoes/boots for work that fit what I need. Going to NYC next week and will be checking out Moo Shoes, excited for that!
