To make up for not taking my birthday off work yesterday, I took today off instead for a long weekend. And I’m glad I did because I needed it after a busy few weeks and a busy day planned tomorrow with hours of driving. Today was about a laid back schedule of doing whatever I wanted. So I started it off with a green monster smoothie and blog reading with the morning sun blasting in our new office – glad I added a ceiling fan!
Then a nice, slow 4-mile run since I got off to a late start and the temps were already in the 90s. I drained my water bottle, yikes! Then I caught up on some garden work while admiring the cute, mini sunflowers on a plant I picked up at Whole Foods awhile back and is flourishing in the summer heat.
I unsuccessfully tried to snap a little spider in one of the flowers before it jumped out at me.
For lunch I threw together a simple salad and coated it with the leftover “cheese” sauce from Wednesday and it was just as good two days later. :-)
And made great fuel for some shopping, I had a DSW birthday coupon that was burning a hole since I needed new brown-ish work shoes. Finding decent professional vegan-friendly work shoes can be difficult, especially in my larger size. But I scored with this pair of LifeStride Dominique Patent Flats being all man-made materials and not too pricey.
And I added yet another camera bag to my collection, this Lowepro Toploader Zoom 45 AW.
It’s for just my DSLR with one lens and a small pocket for a spare battery, lens cap, and memory cards. It’s perfect for packing inside larger bags like hiking backpacks, large purses, etc. Hopefully perfect for tomorrow’s day trip.
By the end of the day I was wiped after running and shopping in the heat, neither hubby or I felt like messing up the kitchen. So to our favorite local Thai place we went for dinner where they recognize us as regulars now … not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. But they have a lot of amazing vegan options for $8, great service, atmosphere, and a perfect patio.
How was your Friday?
