Celebrating

July 21, 2011 by christine

I know I’m getting older when I just can’t get too excited about my birthday. I should and try to remind myself it’s a day about me, a day when I can have fun and do things for myself I wouldn’t normally do. But there’s still a side of me that doesn’t like making a big deal about me. Last year I took a day off for my birthday and went to the state fair. This year was more low-key, I went to work and got these gorgeous flowers from hubby.

Love sunflowers and these made a few other ladies in the office jealous. :-)

When I got home, I got another gift – a farm box delivery. And I let hubby unload it this time trying to figure out all the loot.

Then I got to open gifts from him including this cute backpack made from recycled hemp from SunPhish Arts.

And two new raw books to dive into – Becoming Raw and The World Goes Raw.

Along with some jewelry. :-)

After he took me out to eat and I really wanted to check out the Yard House since they have a Gardein sub menu, but 1 1/2 hours is way too much of a wait for a Thursday night! Instead we headed to Mikuni Sushi where I started the evening off with a tart lemon cocktail … and maybe had another one.

Followed by seaweed salad.

And a Rabbit vegan sushi roll with pretty pink soy wrap.

It was a wonderful, low-key birthday and I’m still in disbelief that I’m another year older! But I am ready to crash after two strong cocktails though, yikes!
