After such a crazy, exhausting week at work, I woke up in a funk this morning. The house desperately needed cleaning, there was a mess waiting for me in the kitchen, chaos in our new office, messy cat boxes, mountain of laundry and I didn’t feel like dealing with any of it after the work week I had. Leela had the right idea.
But I knew it would just be piling up and waiting for me, so first I motivated myself with breakfast. When I was younger, cold cereal was probably my favorite food. Nothing like having it in front of cartoons on a Saturday morning. The adult me replaced the cartoons with blog reading and the milk with a green monster smoothie this morning.
And it was very tasty, the smoothie had frozen blueberries, carrot, spinach, Vitamineral Green, Pea Protein, and a little vanilla for flavoring. The lightly sweetened rice cereal added a fun texture and flavor to the smoothie and was light enough for hitting the gym after, then tearing around the house cleaning like a mad women. I ended up having another smoothie and snacking on some almonds for lunch because I was so low on fresh ingredients, it was pathetic! See:
Normally all those trays are filled with apples, melons, pineapples, avocados, tomatoes, etc. My shopping list was getting ugly, time to hit Whole Foods! But first a little recipe planning.
It has some quirks, but I still like the iPhone Shopper app for managing my various shopping lists for Whole Foods, Costco, Trader Joe’s, etc. At the top of my list was more of Whole Foods brand stevia extract because it’s my current favorite.
It’s about half the price of other brands, but very sweet with no bitter aftertaste.
By 6 PM after lots of cleaning and shopping, I was in no mood to mess up the spotless kitchen. I spent enough time in it today sterilizing and putting food away. So hubby and I headed to Tres Agaves for dinner and margaritas.
Their fresh made chips are always crispy, thin, and not too greasy. But we were treated to a mutant chip tonight.
Hubby decided to take it on with a little guacamole.
And I ordered my favorite jicama salad for dinner.
And, except for the slightly toasted pumpkin seeds, it’s actually raw vegan with chopped cabbage, jicama, radishes, oranges, and lots of fresh veggies.
Perfect way to snap out of my funk. :-)
