Smoothie Day

May 13, 2011 by christine

One of my dogs favorite treats is just globs of peanut butter splatted in her bowl. But it always seems like so much work for her to enjoy it with such a clean up process after enjoying.

I swear this goes on for 10 minutes or more, it takes me less time to floss popcorn out of my teeth! The things we’ll go through for our favorite foods.

Today I was on a mission during my lunch break to Babies R’ Us … so not a pleasant mission! I needed a gift for a baby shower for a family friend tomorrow and tried to make the trip as brief as possible, but the act of getting a gift card and card was bad enough! Anyway, I needed to pack a quick lunch and made a monster smoothie this morning for breakfast and lunch loaded with vanilla pea protein, my new favorite protein powder.

And chocolate hemp protein powder.

Of course Vitamineral Green!

And I added plenty of spinach, carrots, celery, an apple, and frozen banana chunks for a super, 2-serving green monster.

I packed a snack bar to have with the smoothie for lunch and liked having a lighter, but filling, lunch at work that was not too heavy. While not that exciting, smoothies are a perfect meal to me nutritionally for the amount of proteins, fruits, and veggies that can be packed into them and I’m thinking of trying a few smoothie-only days, maybe even a week, to see how it improves digestion and energy. Would you be interested in such an experiment?

Since I’m also doing some raw dishes for the baby shower, I loaded up a Costco after work. These two watermelons should last me a day. :-P Actually one is for a fruit salad and the other is all for me. :-)

I also loaded up on two huge bunches of bananas for to ripen and freeze, a must for smoothies, soft serve and Banana Chocolate Kale Chips.

Also avocados, dates and strawberries for chocolate avocado dip.

Besides the baby shower, I’m looking forward to relaxing this weekend with hubby and maybe a little house work. Any plans for your weekend?

I’ve had a couple of days of juicing and smoothies only, as part of a cleanse, that left me feeling good. Keep us posted on what you decide to do!

Enjoy the baby shower — I’m flying off to the Midwest today for my nephew’s high school graduation.

Hey Christine! My boss has a green smoothie cleanse ebook if you’re interested http://meghantelpner.com/product/green-smoothie-cleanse/

Your dog is so cute. Mine is the same way when I give him nut butter. They’re like frogs catching flies :)

Is your pea protein vanilla flavoured? That sounds good. I bought some “natural” pea protein and it doesn’t taste great!

I’d definitley like to try a few smoothie-only days. Do you find they transport ok? I guess you just need to shake it up before you drink it!
