My site was loading for everyone but me last night thanks to my host blocking me on an accidental “protective” defense. Instead of posting, I was submitting a support ticket and working through troubleshooting with them until it was resolved. By the end of the night, I was too tired and frustrated.
Before things went south in my digital world, I grabbed a huge bag of local walnuts from Salle Orchards at a local farmer’s market.
I had to sample a few. :-) Walnuts are one of my favorite nuts, I have good memories of harvesting them in the bay area as a kid and always having them around for snacking. Also creating goofy little crafts with the shells.
As much as I love to snack on raw walnuts, too many can do a number on my insides. So I’ll be using these more for raw sauces and pates.
At least my walnut pantry container is refilled. :-)
I was in the mood for a simple, raw comfort dinner while dealing with web host drama and went with a monster salad with home cultured veggies.
A welcoming digestion aid when there’s a little drama. :-)
For the salad dressing, I used the ranch recipe from Jennifer Cornbleet’s Raw Food Made Easy since I still had it out and open from earlier this week. But I used hemp seeds in place of the cashews and the dressing came out great, tangier and more flavorful than I remember any of the store bought ones being. It also came together fast taking about 5 minutes to through the ingredients into the Vita-Mix.
I added a bunch of sprouted lentils since I have a container overflowing with them in my fridge. They’re also great smoothie adds.
For a huge dinner salad that was fun to eat with chopsticks.
And left room for a few raw dough balls for dessert. :-)
