We’re officially over the week’s hump and that’s a good thing! I burned the stresses of my work day by taking a long run in our brisk, 40-degree weather and it was nice seeing all the decorations already up in our neighborhood. Quite a few of my neighbors are way ahead of us. :-) Without an ear warming headband, that run would have been impossible for me. A lot of parts of my body can take being cold, but my ears aren’t one of them and start to throb with pain after being in the cold too long. My hands are another part, so my cheap fleece gloves were a huge help in that area too. Being a newbie to cold weather running, I’m still learning the hard way what works and what doesn’t for me. But I was able to improve my pace considerably on this run with better clothing, the running jacket I tried on Sunday was a little too heavy and hot, slowing me down.
When I picked up my dog from my dog-sitting mother today, I caught her playing with my mom’s chihuahua and tried to get pictures … tried.
I’d post more cute pics of her, but she is absolutely terrified of my camera and pulls serious ninja moves to thwart my photo attempts. Forget using the flash, she’ll run from the room shaking violently with her tail between her legs. I blame years of lightening while living in Florida and wonder if that’s enough to get Cesar Milan on the case.
One of her faves is looking away as soon as the picture snaps while shaking violently.
Move the camera closer, and she steps up her game. My mom’s dog, on the other hand, is always there to shove his nose right in the lens and me wondering why the rest of the pics for the day are smudged.
Breakfast was pretty typical this morning, Sun Warrior green smoothie while surfing online deals.
Lunch wasn’t a ball of excitement, but saving money on leftovers is pretty exciting to me. Leftover quinoa stew, since that recipe made 4 huge servings, topped with more nutritional yeast.
For dinner I went with a huge salad coated in creamy avocado dressing and a leftover piece of socca.
The socca was just as good after spending 24 hours in the fridge and wonderful paired with a salad. I know, a cold salad isn’t exactly appealing on a cold night, but I was still hot from the run and it sounded great at the time. So, not craving a cold, raw dish on a winter’s night? Just go for a long run first. :-P
That’s so funny– my parents’ dog is terrified of cameras too!!!
So funny that some dogs are that way, I can’t figure out what happened that freaked her out so much about them.
