Less than a week until Christmas, crazy right?! We have been preparing and being lazy this weekend in the foggy, wintery, cold weather. Miko has been happy to cuddle in warm blankets and laps and has been embracing his hoodie for walks in the cold. But wants it off as soon as he’s back in the house trying to rub it off on furniture.
We have been in a shopping rut here sticking to Grocery Outlet mostly because it’s never crowded and always has vegan deals with a decent produce selection. That has been comforting with the crowded, shopping chaos everywhere else and the pandemic heating up again. And such fun finding deals on new products to try.
Eats have been typical this week, spinach salad with chickpeas, spaghetti squash sauté with soy curls and kicky mango salsa, and simple tamari tofu stir fry.
We also stepped out for kicky Thai tofu dishes, there was a huge pot of homemade lentil and veggie soup, and chickpea marinara pasta with added peas and a plain pasta dish set aside to share with Miko eagerly waiting.
We finally made it to our new Amy’s Drive Thru! And while it was too cold to sit on the patio, it will hopefully be the first of many, many trips. The single burger with vegan cheese, sweet potato fries, The Rachel salad, and regular fries were all great pre-shopping fuel and I really loved the positive vibes of the interior and exterior décor.
Back to work tomorrow, but for a shorter week. So strange that Christmas falls on a Saturday this week, but we get Christmas Eve off to sleep in and prepare for festivities. And lots more rain and wild weather in the forecast over the next week – again, not complaining about much needed rain. But we’ll need to secure our backyard patio furniture better after last week’s 40+ MPH wind gusts and enjoy the excuse to be lazy indoors and prepare for the new year I guess. I hope this list is a great start to your week.

I wish we had a Grocery Outlet here! That’s a nice price on Daiya Dressing! It’s like $6 here…sigh…the ones we can find…Creamy Italian NOT being one of them.

Ugh, hopefully they expand your way soon! But 99 Cent and other bargain stores can have great vegan deals too!

Oh my goodness, we had gusts of over 75 mph and were so lucky to not have lost power like everyone else. So yes, secure that patio furniture! Crazy the damage wind can do! Can’t believe it’s the week before Christmas and I did almost all my shopping online, that seems so lame!
christine says
Yikes, 75 mph is crazy and so true and seems more crazy this year. I did a lot online too, spending a lot of time in stores is not appealing yet sadly.

So many things I’m missing about California, all in one post! I really hope that Amy’s AND Grocery Outlet open up down south someday. I’m so glad you get to enjoy it though. Happy Holidays!

Ah, sorry, but your area rocks too! Yes on both, seems Amy’s is working on growing rapidly so maybe soon!
