We’re bummed another weekend is almost over, so much I want and need to do and not enough time. Miko is especially bummed because he likes the extra play time with us home more.
We did get to more yard work with the weather being cooler finally, hubby put these awesome solar lights in our backyard tree and along the fence to get the yard ready for enjoying cooler weather.
I went on a bra shopping spree yesterday at the mall because I needed a new sports bra – I found out the hard way that my trusted Lululemon Energy Bra I bought for and wore through most of the training for last year’s marathon and many long training runs and races this year is showing the miles during last weekends 10-mile race. So I picked up a new one to have for today’s 12 mile run and an upcoming half marathon. I’m not brand person when it comes to running clothes, I just want clothes that perform well and the Energy Bra did exactly that for me for the entire marathon with no problems which is a big deal! I hate that it’s so pricey, but worth it considering how long it lasted and compares to cheaper bras I’ve tried.
And I ended up buying two more regular bras that were on sale at Victoria’s Secret, so I’m set for awhile and need to get rid of one or two aging sports bras. I always save the newest running gear, shoes, and attire for long runs and races and use the older, higher mileage stuff for shorter and treadmill runs to try and eek more use and save money.
I also bought pumpkins and gourds already, I couldn’t resist decorating the house for fall – bring on the cooler weather and turning leaves!
I scored a great deal on organic instant grits recently at Grocery Outlet and used them for a fun, breakfast themed dinner one night adding chopped Sweet Earth vegan bacon, Daiya Cheddar Shreds, peas, and a drizzle of liquid smoke.
More comfort food than health food, but it was delicious and fun and cooked in minutes in a wok.
But there have been salads too like this edamame monster with turmeric hemp dressing.
Fast and simple oil free tofu stir fries after busy days.
More salad with a simple apple cider vinegar dressing and black beans,
And this fast oil free stir fry with soy curls.
As you can tell, I went through a huge head of purple cabbage this week.
There was also this simple curried lentil and quinoa with broccoli for dinner last night to fuel today’s long run.
Of course we went to Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine for lunch once this week too for spicy Pad Thai.
And delicious lemon mock “chicken” with pineapple and broccoli.
And Blaze Pizza Friday night for fun, custom vegan pizzas.
I love that they offer vegan cheese and even a vegan chicken alternative with plenty of veggies. Our local location is always packed, but they’re so quick in getting the pizza in and out of the oven and have beer on tap while not being pricey at all.
Again, boo on the weekend almost being over. Along with my run, I’ve been catching up on laundry, running errands, slow cooking chickpeas to have ready for the week, doing yard work, and spent some time trying to get farther in Zelda. Not a bad weekend at all.

I need a new sports bra and you seem to enjoy the Energy bra from Lulu Lemon so maybe I will check that out! Sports bras are so hard to shop for so I’m with you, when I find one I like I don’t care about the brand either.

They are, it’s tricky to find a good one for long runs that does not chafe. The Energy Bra is more of a medium support bra, but that works better for me not having clasps in the back to rub.

Your tree looks great, I love seeing little lights on trees. :) I need to get into grits, I haven’t had them in years but yours look so good!
christine says
Thanks! And grits are great, it’s been ages since I’ve been into them and those were so easy to prepare.

I need to buy new sports bras, thanks for the reminder! Great links. I love the pilot!
christine says
Haha, I always put it off too – not fun or easy shopping! Agreed on the pilot, so awesome for travel.

I, for one, am not at all ready for fall! Those creamy, comforting grits might help ease the transition, but I still wish it could be summer forever.
christine says
Yeah, I’m torn on fall – glad for the cooler weather and pumpkins, not sure about really cold weather and Christmas getting closer. The grits were great, fast cooking with great texture.

I love installing solar lights, Okay, I take that back, getting Tom to install them, but they always add so much ambiance! And ugh. I’m desperate for new sports bra’s. Now that the cooler weather is here I know it would be to my great advantage to start exercising again. I’m going to have to check out the brand you mentioned, I just don’t like spending too much because mine get pummeled.
christine says
Haha, so true and they add such a nice accent to the yard without worrying about power use. Yes, I was too and shopping for them is no fun, it was a massive search to find a perfect one for marathon training.

WOW! Lots of great vegan eats!!!! LOVING that tree and the solar lights, btw! Neat find on the grits, too! Yes…it’s true…the weeks are flying by! WOW!

Thanks! The grits are awesome, I prefer having them for dinner! I’m still in shock September is almost over – whoa!
