I’m not 40 yet, but having a little fun starting the celebration this week. Miko, as always, has been the sweetest lap buddy.
He and Leela got new padded Kong collars because his old one was getting a little ratty and I noticed it seemed to irritate his neck last week. So they’re both styling this week.
Even though it was 108 Sunday, we headed to Sacramento for an awesome lunch at Veg Cafe where we started with the earl grey kombucha and seasonal mint fresca.
And the sweet potato chips with ginger guacamole.
The flavors in the guac were great with the slightly sweet and salty chips.
And got the scrambled tofu with pecan and sunflower seed chorizo.
And the falafel burger.
It was all great and hit the spot after a run! The heat didn’t even bother me to a little walking and shopping around midtown Sacramento after.
Later we stepped out to see Spider-Man: Homecoming and got a pleasant surprise going to an older theater we haven’t been to in awhile. It received some major upgrades with massive, power reclining seats and tons of leg room.
It was a little crazy being laid back in a huge recliner, but hubby has already decided we’re never going to another theater, ha!
I loved plenty of personal space around me and not having the back of my seat kicked during the movie.
The movie was awesome and a little long, so we decided to not cook at home after and got takeout from Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine.
I love that there are so many vegan options for dining out here now that keep growing! And the eggplant tofu was wonderful.
Other than that, my eats have been a little strange this week because I need to shop for fresh ingredients, but have not had time or drive to do so. There was this salad using up cabbage, carrots, tomato, and chopped Boca vegan burgers with a hemp seed, dill, and garlic dressing.
And tonight’s lazy creation of steamed carrots, potatoes, and kidney beans seasoned with tamari sauce and nutritional yeast.
I know, simple and lazy. But tasty and filling and the dogs sure loved sharing the carrots and potatoes with me.

Happy early birthday! My dad used to take us to theaters a few times a year just so he could relax in the comfy seats =P

Thanks! We’re getting some crazy theater upgrades here now to compete with home theaters I guess – not complaining. :-)

Happy birthday week! All of the food looks amazing!
I can’t imagine running in that heat. I ran 6 in 85 degree humidity today and it almost killed me! Fortunately, the weather has been cool on Mondays for the past month, which is our long run day. Alex and I are hoping that trend continues!
Enjoy your week!

Thanks! Ugh, it’s so hot this week – either treadmill or early running only! Nice for your weather!
