Happy Mother’s Day! Hope all the mothers are having a great day, we’re having my mom over for dinner tonight for a simple and relaxed evening. With the weather so perfect this weekend, I’ve been trying to get the dogs out for a lot of long walks. Sweet Miko crashed in my lap after a long walk yesterday contently snoring.
Friday night hubby and I stepped out to our favorite local pizza place for this delicious, veggie loaded vegan pizza.
Can’t go wrong with a great crust, great sauce, and plenty of artichoke hearts and olives.
Of course I stopped by Grocery Outlet for a little deal hunting and found these crunchy vinegar and salt fava bean crisps from World Peas for a price I couldn’t resist.
They’re a tasty snack, but also excellent salad toppers.
Great with this simple salad with garlic hummus dressing.
And there was more vegan pizza this weekend. We had a little family gathering at my sister’s house last night with two types of Daiya Margherita pizza, Daiya Fire-Roasted Veggie pizza, and more loaded salad.
We brought both pizzas to contribute vegan options to the menu and they were simple and fast to cook. And the vegan cheese was not runny or messy.
It was nice not having a race this weekend after doing to many this year so far, instead we took off on a fun trail run this morning where we visited with grazing sheep.
And took in some great views.
It was relaxing not to be focused on pace and just take in the scenery. The trails were not crowded at all which was surprising for such perfect weather, but really great for us. Okay, to the list!
How to run faster without trying.
Running helped this nurse loose 89 lbs.
More on running adding years to your life.
LA is making huge gains in serving better school lunches.
My husband and I just got back from a long weekend in Half Moon Bay, I thought of you because I know you live in the area. It was truly magical, although it was so much chillier than I expected. I can see why you love running so much, it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Okay, how in the world does that kid and his family run in CROCS? My neighbor loaned me hers to wear while I was developing recipes for our cookbook. All of the standing on a stone floor was killing me, and I didn’t want to buy new shoes. She’s a true friend. :) Anyway, I can’t tell you how many times I tripped in those things because they’re so clunky. Oh well, they’re clearly working for them.
Nice, I have such great childhood memories from Half Moon Bay – such a pretty area. There are a lot of great areas to run, I want to get into more trail running too and maybe do a trail race.
Haha, agreed on Crocs! I have Crocs flip flops which are great AFTER a run and as house slippers. But way too clunky and easy to trip in.
I’d love to run by some sheep! I totally agree I would not run in Crocs but they’re awesome for after a run!
I really hope LA does the vegan meal project. :)
They are so cute! I know on Crocs, I would trip myself!
I also grabbed those fava bean crisps at Grocery Outlet last week! What a fun find.
Yes, so great to just snack on and sprinkle in salads.
