Splurging for the List

December 11, 2016 by christine

Happy Sunday – hope everyone is having a great weekend. I’m a little sad it’s almost over. Miko did not enjoy the weekend as much because it rained most of it, not a happy camper about having to go outside in it!

I am easing back into running after the CIM Sunday, logging an easy treadmill run Saturday and a longer easy run today.

Feeling pretty good, but quads and knees are still a little tired.

I took Friday off work to have a girls’ shopping day with my mom and sisters to finish Christmas shopping and we started at Dr. Bob’s Donuts to create healthy vegan donut creations. I might have gone a little nuts at the toppings bar.

I started with the gingerbread and carrot cake steam fresh donuts and piled on lots of fun goodies like raspberry cream, coconut cream, berry chia seed topping, caramel sauce. It was a delicious treat!

Then we ended up at Il Fornaio for lunch where I stuck with the simple vegan minestrone soup and bread.

Not too exciting, but not pricey and hit the spot on a chilly day.

And for dinner, hubby and I hit Pho Vegan Asian Cuisine for my current favorite dish there – the vegan wonton soup.

This soup is amazing on a chilly day – hearty with a nice flavored broth and lots of veggies. I might need to go back again this week.

I found another fun product at Grocery Outlet – Sabra Organic Non-GMO hummus.

Delicious with simple chopped carrots, it has a lighter whipped texture I think compared to others I’ve tried.

Still nursing a mild cold and stuffy head, I enjoyed another comfort dinner last night of simmered potatoes and veggies in a mix of spicy curry paste and coconut milk.

And after multiple trips to the Apple Store, the battery has finally been replaced in my phone after I found during the marathon it was defective. We spent too much time roaming a crowded mall today waiting for it to be replaced, I’ve officially had my fill of malls and shopping for the Christmas season!

Sadly I need to schedule a vet appointment for our cat Smokey this week. She’s about 17-years-old and started showing her age over the last couple of months getting skinnier and not very energetic, but still eating and seemingly happy. This weekend she’s become a lot more lethargic and having issues making it to the cat box and even stumbling around. It’s heartbreaking to see them age and I hate going through the decision of how to handle it. For now we’re keeping her comfortable and letting her eat plenty of food and giving her plenty of love.

On a happier note – the list!

Do you find that running on a treadmill gives a similar workout to running on a sidewalk or trail?? Is there much of a difference. – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com

I think so with the incline set at a minimum of 1. I like that I can control interval speeds and incline for specific workouts. But having a balance of both treadmill and outdoor runs is important.
