Whoa, another weekend is flying by too fast. It’s been a productive and fun weekend so far that included more steamed spaghetti squash with hummus dressing and kale edamame salad.
Spicy Thai cashew tofu stir fry.
A deal shopping trip to Grocery Outlet.
Miko enjoying a warm bed and blanket fresh out of the dryer.
And a shopping trip to the mall yesterday with hubby. I started the Online Forks Over Knives program at Rouxbe Cooking School yesterday! Hubby sweetly got that for an anniversary gift and I’ve only gotten through Unit 1 so far, but it seems like it will be intense. One of the requirements is white plates for taking photos of prepared assignment recipes and I don’t have any with a bright Fiestaware set. We headed to Macy’s to see if they have the White Fiestaware set in stock which of course they didn’t, so I picked up this simple white plate for $5.
I have a lot more units to go through over the next few months and looking forward to writing more about the classes and experiences after hearing so much great stuff about this school.
And we headed into Lululemon which was packed! And pricey! But I have been having a terrible time with sports bras and “marathon tattoos” with the really longs runs. I have been very happy with cheap Target Champion running bras, no problems for the last few half marathons. But that has changed lately and one left a nasty rub spot on my back from the clasp weeks ago that is still healing. And those bras absorb so much sweet that body glide does not last long when they become saturated. TMI?
After researching options, I wanted to try on the Ta Ta Tamer III, but also got talked into the Energy Bra by staff as well. I’ve always believed that running bras needed to have extreme support, especially for longer runs. Which means they’re also an extreme pain to put on, those damn clasps seem to warp and get bent out of shape for me over time. The Energy Bra is a mid-range support without clasps and the sales staff insisted it’s a marathon favorite because it’s lighter, easier, and still very supportive. So I got one of each in the sale colors – the print on the Energy Bra is pretty loud – who cares since I’m wearing it under tops, lol.
I wore the Energy Bra on my 14-mile taper run this morning and loved it! The level of support was fine for me and no irritated rub spots in the front or back where I usually get them. Woohoo!
Last night I had my usual pre-long run dinner of quinoa and lentils seasoned with vinegar, bay leaf, chili powder, dash of cayenne, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper.
Not bad, the seasoning combo worked without being too heavy.
And my long run this morning was interesting. I drove to a different area to explore new trails and mix things up. The weather was nearly perfect – cool, overcast, but a little windy.
I underestimated how far I’d need to go to cover 14 miles and explored a lot of pretty trails stopping here and there to snap pics and take in the scenery.
And ran way more hills than I expected! Over 4 times the elevation changes of my usual running routes and I was feeling it by mile 10 and decided to slow down and not over-push myself since it was supposed to be an easier taper run. Worth it for the scenery, but I am feeling the hills now and will stick to my usual flatter route for next weekend’s 20-mile run.
Okay, to the list!
I might need to give Taco Bell a try again.
This vegan sweet potato mac & “cheese” sounds perfect.
Ouch! I have a few runner’s tattoos on my bra line. I learned the hard way to only wear my Graced by Grit running bras. They’re so comfortable! Here’s the link. https://www.gracedbygrit.com/
Good luck with the 20 miler, you’ll do great!
Never tried that brand, I will have to check it out. Thanks!
Time is flying, isnt it?! I hate when people post those X amount of days till Christmas memes.. makes me feel like I am missing the entire year! Also, I love those protein shake powders from Genesis.. the Maca one tastes soooo good if you add cacao powder to it, with almond milk!! YUM! – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
Very fast! Agreed on Christmas memes, ugh! Nice on the protein powders, looking forward to trying it in the rotation.
Friction burn can be the worst! I remember getting it often in my arm pits when taking Orange Theory classes. I guess I swung my arms too much to get run fast enough to get my heart rate up? I hope the new bras work well in the long run.
So true, the area on my back is still healing from a month ago! Thankfully the Energy Bra is working great!
