I’m glad and sad Thanksgiving is over, I could do without the stress and rich eating. But miss the fun time with family and relaxing long weekend. And it means Christmas madness has officially begun! I have a pile of Amazon boxes waiting for me to open and wrap which will happen this weekend, maybe. Miko and Smokey have been enjoying cuddle couch time with hubby.
And Leela having her fireplace bed all to herself.
The holidays also bring some great vegan products like vegan nog, a simply amazing beverage for adding to coffee, making nog banana soft serve in the VitaMix, or guzzling straight from the carton. But the store bought stuff can contain a lot of sugar and preservative ingredients that aren’t so awesome. Let’s be real, something that disappears so fast in my fridge does not need preservatives. Here’s a thick hemp seed-based nog recipe you can make anytime time of the year. It will add a creamy heft to your coffee with a festive flavor or make amazing nog banana soft serve ice cream in the blender.
Healthy Hemp Nog
- 1 1/2 cups shelled hemp seeds
- 1 cup pitted medjool dates
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 cups water
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy! Makes 6-8 servings.
Yeah, it’s thick, creamy, hearty, and heavy as nog should be.
And stores in the fridge for up to 5 days, but you’ll need to shake it up a bit before each serving.
The flavor is very nog like with a warming cinnamon and nutmeg blend.
Enjoy this rich holiday treat also loaded with protein, good fats, and fiber.

MY MOM IS OBSESSED with hemp seeds… I haven’t really had a nice sit down with them… I think I need to change that, and your recipe reminds me to do just that!

I’m a total nog nut- No pun intended! I’ve never tried making it with hemp before though, and now that I just got my brand new blender, I know just how to break it in…. :)
