It’s been a busy week here, but it’s always nice wrapping up the day with a little down time in front of the TV before bed. And Miko looks forward to the couch cuddle time.
It’s always a good time to snuggle in his favorite softy red blanket.
It’s hot here this week, ugh. Triple digit heat all week with a high of 109 tomorrow. The saving grace is it’s a dry heat, the air is not as oppressive with the lack of humidity. But still hot, like trying to function in a sauna and I’ve been drinking lots of water, snacking on frozen grapes, and going through lots of chilled watermelon. And plenty of cool salads, of course. A hot, cooked meal just isn’t appealing after a day of running around in the heat! But a cool salad can still have another kind of heat, a creamy hot peppery flare blended with sweet banana and creamy hemp seeds. This dressing has a fun blend of spicy heat, sweetness, and tangy dill for a great summer flavor blend.
Spicy Hemp Dressing
- 1 banana, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup hemp seeds
- 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 3 tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp. Sriracha sauce
- 1/2″ thick chunk of fresh ginger
- 1/2 tsp. dill weed
- 1/2 cup water, as needed
- salt and pepper to taste.
Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend to a smooth and creamy texture. Serve and enjoy. Makes 2-4 servings.
The sriracha adds a fun pinkish color with a smooth and creamy texture.
It coats the salad nicely with whole foods based flavor, no oil or sugar added.
Making this salad a fun, flare-filled way to enjoy the summer heat.

It was even 96 here the other day and our humidity have been CRAZIER than usual! We’ve had a lot of rain but sometimes it won’t burst so we have like 80% humidity which makes the 96 degree heat a lot of fun (can you sense my sarcastic tone?) LOL
