Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I’m feeling relaxed this morning with cooler temps and overcast sky outside, perfect conditions for a run shortly. I also caught up on a lot of house work yesterday including a lot of vacuuming which the chihuahuas do not like.
It’s been cooler this weekend and cloudy, a nice change from the triple digit heat over the week.
I’d better enjoy it while I can since the heat is back all next week with a high up to 109! Our garden is hanging in there with the heat, the basil is thriving in the blistering sun.
And we’re starting to get little spaghetti squashes.
The quinoa plant has also doubled in size in the last few weeks.
I need to thin more pears off our tree! Every year it produces way more than the tree can support.
And still chasing codling moths on our apple tree which is not an easy process organically.
It can take seasons to fully get rid of them and I plan to treat the ground around the tree more during the dormant winter.
Friday we tried a new local Thai restaurant for dinner and enjoyed the vegan options including a kicky yellow curry tofu dish with potatoes and very spicy tofu drunken noodles.
I don’t think I could ever get tired of Thai food.
I made a simple kale salad yesterday with tomatoes, tofu, and Trader Joe’s vegan mozzarella shreds dressed with balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, and an Italian seasoning blend.
Very simple and fast to toss together in a big bowl and one of my favorite post-gym lunches on the weekend.
I also threw together a simple cabbage and potato curry stew last night to use up potatoes and have simple leftovers for today and the purple cabbage turned it a pretty color.
Hubby created another vegan burger masterpiece using a Beyond Meat Beast Burger and Field Roast Chao Vegan Original Creamy Slices.
He likes the Chao cheese flavor, but doesn’t like that it doesn’t get as melty as other vegan slices. He is a fan of the Beast Burger as a satisfying alternative to a traditional burger which makes me happy.
This one is a little more infuriating about lobbyists and the power of big money and big business.
Great quick squib on why Samuel L. Jackson went vegan.
Is the Paleo diet trend evolving? I hope so.
Vegan diets are healthier for gut bacteria.
Finally another inspiring story of a father making a health transformation and taking on an impressive hike.

Wow, those tree branches are positively loaded with pears! Color me green with jealousy… My idea of paradise is where fruit grows so abundantly in my own backyard. It really doesn’t even matter what sort, as long as it’s edible!

Thanks on the pears, that funny tree tries to produce too many every year. It’s nice having fruit trees, but they can be maintenance though. :-)

That pear tree is awesome! I should plant some fruit trees, pears and apples actually grow in my region.
That’s too funny, my chihuahuas don’t like the vacuum either. I can imagine how big and scary it is to them.
Great links! Thanks.

Thanks on the pear tree, looking forward to using them in smoothies!
Leela especially hates the vacuum and takes off whenever it gets near.

Speaking of cool…glad temps cooled off for the weekend, but 109 is just ridiculous.
