Hello from Napa Valley! We’re finally cashing in a Groupon I impulsed purchased for a 2-night stay at a lovely Napa resort and I’m loving the extra days off work! And looking forward to parking it in the hot tub with a glass of wine after dinner. Before checking into the resort, we headed into downtown Napa for a post-drive late lunch at Eiko’s.
I really dig the Napa touches for a sushi restaurant, like the wine cork chopstick holder and olive oil-style soy sauce bottle.
I was craving something light after the longish drive and knowing dinner would be huge, so I started with this lovely mushroom tofu miso soup.
Followed by a very plan cucumber roll and edamame.
Not too exciting, but tasty and cheap and not too heavy for a little exploring on foot after. And trying out benches.
Then we headed to the resort to check in and explore the amenities, like this fabulous wine cave that’s actually a spa, tasting room and event room. There will be some tasting there later.
We also hiked all around the grape orchards snapping pics, just love the blooming poppies everywhere,
And snapped a few pics of this guy guarding the orchards looking very stately.
Ah, I’m feeling very relaxed already and we haven’t even started in on the wine tasting – that’s tomorrow’s fun!

I love Napa and you totally deserve this awesome little getaway. Seems like it’s coming at a perfect time for you!
oh i am so happy for you! what a great escape and definitely needed for you two :)
