Raw Soups for Spring

March 21, 2012 by christine

It’s been a week so far! The challenges and stresses are plentiful to say the least, but it seems to be flying by so there’s that. I’m not only getting nagged at work, but at home too!

Smokey has been very clingy and curious following us around the house, stomping across keyboards, and trying to sneak little backyard adventures when we let the dogs out, severe case of spring fever! And I think I have it too because I’ve been craving lots of raw soups this week. I paired a steamed artichoke and spicy hummus dip with a creamy zucchini soup for dinner last night.

And decided to get experimental with a raw brussels sprouts soup recipe tonight.

Let’s just say the recipe isn’t ready for posting yet.

It wasn’t bad paired with a lightly dressed Dijon salad, but still slightly bitter and needs work.

While I thought the soup was just okay, Miko adored it!

Sneaky little guy jumped into my lap and had his head in the bowl before I could grab, guess I wasn’t expecting him to go after pureed brussels sprouts! And he went for another attempt after I put him on the floor.

After dinner, it was lap time with hubby.

While I have a date with a bubble bath and a glass of wine!

Thanks, it’s short since that’s about all I’ve had resources for this week! :-P

Haha…we were just saying yesterday that our dogs have spring fever– they’ve been going crazy lately! Guess it’s going around in the animal world too :-)

I have been meaning to try more raw soups. I have made a couple of attempts and, whilst i thought they were ok, i didn’t love them.
I’m sure there are recipes out there which are amazing i just need to get my courage up and try again!

Raw soups can be hit or miss for me too, I adore more hemp seed based soups and daring flavor combos like spinach and apple. But some can seem bitter with too many veggies and/or have an off texture.
