Happy Friday! Finally! I’m looking forward to fun and relaxing this weekend celebrating two family birthdays and making some great raw eats. Last night I went lazy and simple for dinner after another long and exhausting day at work whipping up one of my favorite raw soups in the Vita-Mix, Gena’s Red Pepper and Hemp Soup.
And paired it with baked acorn squash halves that I just drizzled a little coconut oil into and sprinkled with pumpkin pie seasoning.
Another casual and quick fall dinner, but the acorn squash was almost like a pumpkin pie or warm dessert and made the kitchen smell wonderful.
Gena’s soup is one of my favorites because it has a wonderful pepper flavor and kick complimenting the hemp seeds nicely and I almost always have the ingredients to throw it together since my freezer is always stocked with 5 lb. bags of hemp seeds.
Today was another draining day at work, but knowing I’d be coming home to a new toy made it better.
After over two great years with my iPhone 3GS, I upgraded to the iPhone 4S. Look at the difference in the screens – whoa! After about 30 minutes of backing up the old phone, activating and transferring to the new phone, I was ready to tinker and be amazed at how much faster apps are running on the 4S.
Oh the fun hubby and I have been having with Siri and sending text messages by voice, using FaceTime, and just amazed with the camera quality. Since we needed to head out to grab new cases for our phones, we grabbed dinner out too. :-) And ended up at Il Fornaio again for another fabulous vegan pizza. Great opportunity to snap food pics with the new iPhone camera and I was just amazed, it did better than my 4-year-old Canon point-and-shoot!
Fabulous detail for a cell phone camera, guess I don’t need to carry my point-and-shoot anymore.
I had another tech toy waiting for me when I got home, an HP TouchPad I’m setting up as a birthday gift for my mom.
It’s a pretty slick device too, I know she’ll dig it for accessing her calendar, email, shopping lists, etc. But after working with computers all day at work and tech gadgets at home, I’m wiped! :-)
coconut oil into and sprinkled with pumpkin pie seasoning = NICE. I want.
Ok but what I really want is the 4s
I have the iphone 4 and am not eligible for the 4s for another…year. ugh! I kinda want to just buy it outright. Crazy but true. But I think I’d rather buy a camera lens :)
As for transferring. If you find a way to sync up your old phone, computer/itunes (wait you dont use a mac, do you?) and new phone, lmk. I have turned on home sharing but for some reason i can’t circumvent the ‘security’ they have on the sharing. it’s either delete my itunes and start over there OR start over on my phone. I opted for the later. sigh.
I know what you mean, I felt the same when the 4 came out and we weren’t eligible for an upgrade yet! But maybe the iPhone 5 will be out when you are eligible and it will totally be worth the wait. :-) The iPhone 4 is still an awesome phone with a decent camera and being pretty speedy.
I did the transfer from my old phone to the new one on iTunes in Windows and everything went fine, it transferred all my apps, music, files, notes, and even my wallpaper seamlessly – pretty impressive and as an IT geek, I’m not used to things working so well and being so simple. :-) I haven’t played around with iCloud yet because I keep most of my music and videos stored locally and am not sharing across multiple Apple devices at the moment, but it seems slick.
Your squash and soup look delish! Perfect for fall.
My hubs and I were the same way when we got our iphones … ha ha. I, too, was amazed how great the picture quality was. Nice birthday gift idea for your Mom.
Have a great weekend!
Niice! I dsnt realize how much better the visuals and camera would be. I’m due to update my contract too and my phone ;)
i love your lazy dinner concoction! seems like we both have super stressful busy jobs-sucks huh? i too go the the new iphone!!!!! i had an old 3 G that barely held a charge. i got the white one though. enjoy your sunday christine!
Yeah, I’m looking forward to things calming down at work – if they ever do! That’s great on your phone, have you tried RunKeeper with it yet? It seems to work much better on mine.
