Almost Friday and I’m ready! I’m just craving some downtime this weekend and maybe a little outdoor time if our beautiful weather holds. This morning I tried something new in my smoothie.
Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Maca Powder. The main reason I decided to try it was for increased energy, but it seems to have many other benefits as well. However, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. The trouble sleeping part makes me a bit nervous, so I’m starting with just a teaspoon in my breakfast smoothies and will see how this goes.
I had lunch with my mom and young nieces and I took the opportunity to test my creamy cauliflower mash on them. My mom really liked it, even said it seemed a bit sweet. The 2-year-old scarfed it down and the 4-year-old eventually ate it after picking around the spinach and jicama sticks also on her plate – a picky eater.
I never get tired of sprout-loaded salads, especially with a creamy avocado-tomato-basil dressing.
Dinner was spiralized zucchini noodles, artichoke hearts topped with fresh marinara sauce whipped up in the Vita-Mix.
One of my go-to favorites, though the sauce was a bit runny, I need to work on thickening it up.
Anyway, Nutivas Hemp Protein Powder is my current favorite plant-based protein supplement and is a regular in my morning smoothies adding 15 grams per serving. But it’s not cheap, the 16 oz. bottle is $19 at Whole Foods or about $13 on Amazon, making it $0.87 to $1.26 per serving. So I was happy to discover this beauty.
3 lbs. for about $27 or about $0.60 per serving – much better! You’ll just need to good air-tight container to store it in your fridge or freezer.
