Yuck, today is not at all a pleasant day to be outside, it’s very wet, windy and cold. When will the winter weather go away? So much for bringing down the summer clothes this weekend, ugh. But it was a good day to catch up on chores inside the house, maybe a little TV watching, Wii playing, blog reading and kitchen playing. I also loaded my dehydrator with sliced apple-sized strawberries I got at Trader Joe’s yesterday for snacking this week.
I’m very curious about a new movie coming out this summer, Forks Over Knives. In the tradition of Food, Inc., looks like it’s targeted to be another eye-opening documentary aimed to drive Americans to change their diets, but more targeted to the health problems related to excessive consumption of animal products.
For lunch I did one of my favorite quick salad dressings – orange ginger dressing.
Toss 1-2 peeled oranges, chunk of fresh ginger and glob of miso paste into a blender with maybe a little water depending on how thick you like it, blend and pour on your salad. It has a nice creamy texture and zingy flavor that I love. You can also substitute walnuts for the miso or add walnuts to the dressing for an even creamier, rich flavor.
For dinner, I was craving something warm. So I did an awesome raw tomato pepper basil soup in the Vita-Mix and served with a boiled artichoke.
With it I tried another new kombucha flavor.
Good, but not my favorite – strawberry is probably my favorite Synergy flavor so far. How was your weekend? More exciting than mine I hope. :-)
