Fridays are kind of my free/lazy day, I typically don’t exercise or worry too much about what I eat … which is rarely a problem with raw as long as there’s not raw deserts around :-) I splurged a bit on my smoothie this morning adding a kiwi, a couple of frozen banana slices, a carrot, bunch of kale/spinach mixture and Nutiva Hemp Protein Powder, then sweetened it with a packet of Truvia, carob powder and vanilla extract – very nice and amazing that just a few frozen banana slices can really impact the flavor and texture.
For lunch I tried another recipe from Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen, Walnut Cranberry Squash Rice, and loved it! Butternut squash with cranberries, walnuts, red onions and cilantro – mmmmm! It was more of a sweet dessert, kind of like a sweet potato mash with tangy fruit. Plus I just love walnuts and just about any recipe using them. This should definitely be part of a raw Thanksgiving.
After work, I trotted over to Costco to restock for the week. Fridays are a pretty good time to go, Costco is slightly less packed and I can navigate the produce department pretty quickly without running over too many kids or getting cut off by the stampede to the fresh pizza roll samples.
I stocked on more carrots and spinach for dehydrator experimenting this week. Tonight, we’re going to relax at home and catch up with the Netflix pile :-)
